Vincenza "Vi" (Cerri) Collicco

Mrs. Vincenza "Vi" (Cerri) Collicco, age 86, of Utica, passed away on Wednesday, December 21, 2005, at the Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare Center with her loving daughter, Beverly, by her side. Born in Utica on July 5, 1919, Vincenza was the daughter of the late Antonio and Rose (Tomaino) Cerri. She was raised and educated locally. On November 23, 1939, she married Dominick J. "Click" Collicco, Sr. Ever a loving couple who cherished each other with steadfast devotion, Vi and Dominick shared a union of 64 years prior to his passing on September 9, 2004. At one time Mrs. Collicco worked as an assembler for GE for several years. She then accepted employment with the Utica City School District's food service, the position from which she retired. She was a communicant of St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Church. Mrs. Collicco is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Beverly and Robert "Bob" Szczerba of North Utica; and two sons, Ralph A. Collicco, and David J. Collicco, both of Florida. She cherished in her heart the memory of her son, Dominick Joseph Collicco, Jr., who passed away in 1948 at the age of three. Vi's survivors also include her grandchildren, Dominick Joseph Collicco III of Santa Barbara, CA, Bill Szczerba of Utica, and Raymond Szczerba of Albany; a sister and brother-in-law, Antoinette and Vincent LaBella of Utica; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins; and her in-laws, Alva Cerri of Frankfort, Josephine Calicchia, Anna Marie Calicchia, both of Utica, Lena Sahli, Roc Calicchia, both of Florida, and Tessie Collicco of Utica. She was predeceased by two sisters and a brother-in-law, Mary and Bill Orsomorso and Angeline "Dolly" Tomaino; five brothers, Carmen Cerri, Dominick Cerri, Frank Cerri, Joseph Cerri, and Felix "Philly" J. Cerri; and her in-laws, Ralph N. Calicchia, Jr., Anthony Collicco, and Joseph F. "Click" and Phyllis Calicchia. The family extends its sincere thanks to Dr. Bhisham Garg and Dr. Paul Palumbo for the compassionate care and conscientious attention with which they attended Vi and her loved ones. There will be no public visitation. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Mrs. Collicco's funeral, which will commence tomorrow morning (Monday) at 11:30 at St. Mary of Mount Carmel Church, where her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment will take place in St. Agnes Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave.
