Mr. Vincent T. DeBuono

Mr. Vincent Thomas DeBuono, age 83, passed away on Monday, August 4, 2014 in the comfort of his home with his loving family by his side. Born in Yonkers, New York on June 23, 1931, Vincent was the son of the late Vincent and Anna Rosa (Marchese) DeBuono. He was also blessed with the love and guidance of Margaret “Chickie” De Buono. He was raised and educated in Yonkers. A proud veteran, Vincent honorably served his country with both the United States Navy and the United States Air Force. Following his military tour of duty, he furthered his studies at Westchester Community College where he received an Associate Degree. He continued his collegiate work at the State University of New York earning his Bachelor of Science Degree. He then pursued his post-graduate coursework at Syracuse University where he was awarded a Master of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering. Vincent was wed to Pauline H. George who passed away on October 10, 2001. Vincent plied his professional skills working as an Aeronautical Engineer for the General Electric Company at the Broad Street and French Road locations. Concurrently, he enjoyed his role as an educator at M.V.C.C. During his retirement years, he held a position at the ITT Technical Institute in Syracuse where he helped mentor and inspire his many students. A caring and devoted man, Vincent thought of his family as the center of his life and the source of his happiness. His love for his children and grandchildren was boundless and they brought him happiness beyond compare! Vincent possessed a positive outlook on life that warmed the hearts of those who knew him! He loved life and lived it to its fullest! Very athletic in his earlier years he excelled in the sport of track and field, a regimen that he continued throughout his life to remain physically fit. He was a member of the Italian Heritage Club (Sons of Italy) and the "GE Elfun Society" made up of General Electric retirees looking to stay active and spread smiles in their retirement. He was a parishioner of the Church of Our Lady of Lourdes. Vincent is survived by his daughters, Diane K. DeBuono of FL, Janet Dunn of Bridgewater, and Kathy A. DeBuono of FL; his sons and daughter-in-law, Vincent J. DeBuono of Utica, and Paul E. and Kim De Buono of New Hartford; and his several grandchildren and great grandchildren. Always close to his heart was the memory of his granddaughter, Krystle Elizabeth DeBuono, who passed away on January 2, 2012. He also leaves many other family members and friends. The family extends gratitude to the staff of Hospice & Palliative Care, Inc. for the expertise and compassion extended to Vincent. Visitation will be held Thursday from 5:00-7:00 at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave.. Vincent’s funeral service and Celebration of Life will commence on Friday morning at 10:00 from the funeral home and at 11:00 at the Church of Our Lady of Lourdes where his Mass of Christian Burial will be offered by Rev. Joseph Salerno with military honors conferred.
