Mrs. Theresa Jean (Scalise) Buccolo

NEW HARTFORD - Mrs. Theresa Jean (Scalise) Buccolo, cherished wife, mother, Mimi to her grandchildren and great grandchildren, and aunt to her numerous nieces and nephews, left this world on February 10, 2019, just after her 90th birthday in the comfort of her home. Born January 20, 1929 in Utica, she was the daughter of the late Louis and Genevieve (Aiello) Scalise. She was a graduate of T.R. Proctor High School. On August 8, 1969 she married the love of her life, George J. Buccolo. They shared a close, loving bond of nearly 50 years together. Theresa worked for the New York State Department of Labor as a senior stenographer for many years. She was a parishioner of St. Anthony and St. Agnes Church. Theresa filled her spare time with her husband on the golf course, one of their favorite passions. She also enjoyed painting, and coming from a musical family, she was a talented pianist who played in her father’s orchestra, Utica Junior Symphony. She is survived by her husband, George; her children- though not biological, her children nonetheless, Joseph and Debra Buccolo, Jocelynne and Roy Rawson, Kimberly and Mark Connors; her grandchildren, Stefanie and Matthew Buono, Julia Sirianni; Samuel Connors, Elliot Connors; her great-grandson, Bradley Buono; her sister, Anita and Jack Iannotta; her brother-in-law, David Buccolo; her nieces, nephews, and many dear friends. She was predeceased by her non-biological son, Georgie Buccolo with whom she developed a special loving, caring bond; her brothers and sisters-in-law, Philip and Rose Scalise, Valentine “Val” and Kathleen Scalise; sister and brother-in-law, Theodora “Teddy” and Ray Milograno; and in-laws, Joseph and Julia Buccolo. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Theresa’s funeral service and Celebration of Life which will commence on Friday afternoon at 1:00 at St. Anthony and St. Agnes Church where Rev. Mark Kaminski will offer her Mass of Christian Burial. The family will receive visitors at the conclusion of Mass. In lieu of floral offerings, memorial contributions in Theresa’s honor may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital online at https://www.stjude.org/donate. Envelopes will also be available at the service. Committal services and interment will follow the funeral in Calvary Cemetery.
