Mr. Tashaun David Lockwood, Sr.

UTICA/CHARLOTTE, NC – Mr. Tashaun David Lockwood, Sr., age 42, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, February 6, 2026. Born in Orange County, CA on May 21, 1983, Tashaun was the beloved son of Kerry and Christine (Walker) Lockwood. He graduated from T.R. Proctor High School as a proud member of the Class of 2001. It was there that he formed lifelong friendships and met his High School sweetheart and the love of his life, Natoiya Mack and from that union they were blessed with four children. Most recently, Tashaun was employed at MRC Global, where he was not only a dedicated employee but also a valued colleague and friend. His coworkers appreciated his strong work ethic, reliability, and the positive energy he brought into the workplace each day. Throughout his life, Tashaun deeply valued his family and friendships. He found joy in spending time with his loved ones and friends whom he liked “chillin” with on Dudley Ave. (also known as D-Block”), listening to music, watching YouTube videos, and creating meaningful memories that will forever be cherished. He was a devoted and loving father, a loyal friend, and someone whose presence brought comfort and joy to those around him. Tashaun was widely known for his fun-loving and humorous personality, infectious laughter and uplifting spirit which made him someone people naturally gravitated to. He had a remarkable way of making others feel welcomed, appreciated, and at ease, whether through a simple conversation or shared laughter, he made every moment brighter. Tashaun cherished his children’s accomplishments in school and their occupations. He continuously encouraged them to work hard, believe in themselves, and reach for the stars. Family meant everything to him. His children especially cherished his warmth, guidance, and playful sense of humor. Some of their most treasured memories include watching movies together, dining out, and sharing countless laughs that filled their home with love. He will be remembered as a gentle dad who enjoys time cooking with his children and his wife. But he also liked going to Golden Corral even though his family didn’t like to go but his mother-in-law would go with him when she visited or bought him a gift card. Tashaun’s legacy of love, strength, humor, and devotion will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him. Tashaun will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Natoiya; his children, Tashaun Lockwood, Jr. (Utica), Tiana Lockwood, Tamiah Lockwood, Tanaya Lockwood, Amani Mills, and Tahdrianna Rogers; his grandchildren who affectionately called him “Grandpa T.”, Jalayah Lockwood and Tashaun Lockwood III; his parents, Kerry and Christine Lockwood; siblings, Lamar Lockwood, Akii Lockwood, Kerry Lockwood, Ramel Lockwood, Shantai Lockwood, Coella Lockwood, and Kerry Grant; aunts and uncles, Albert Lockwood, Edward Taylor, Michelle Hollman, Johnny Walker, Nathaniel Walker, Willie (Shelia) Walker, Diane (Willie) Wilson, Sandra (Tim) Wilkerson, Gene (Angie) Walker, Timmy (Bonnie) Walker, Michael (Gloria) Walker, Richard (Gena), and Suzie (Daniel Dickerson) Walker. Also left to cherish his memory are his father-in-law, Ernest Brown; mother-in-law, Darlene Mack-Brown, whom he affectionately called Mom and she called him Son; sister-in-law, Jia Mack, whom he thought of like a little sister; brother-in-law, D’Sean Mack; and special friends, Jamar Patterson, Rashen Odom, and Steven Starkey, who will continue to honor his memory. Tashaun was predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Thelma and Albert Lockwood; maternal grandparents, Willie Mae and Henry C. Walker; and several aunts and uncles, including Dennis Lockwood, Gregory Hollman, Leroy Walker, and Eva Temple, and Milton Reeves. He also was predeceased by his close friends, Nathaniel Harvey (Niz), Thomas Winston (Pinky), Charles Bryant (Slidaman), Omar Harvey, and Umar Khadafy. Gratitude is extended to the North Carolina Highway Patrol, MRC Global, Inc., St. Matthew’s Temple COGIC, and family and friends for their love, support, prayers, and acts of kindness. Memorial contributions may be made to his beloved wife, Natoiya, and his precious children to help ease the burdens they face during this heartbreaking and untimely loss; envelopes will be available at the service for those who wish to offer their love and support. Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 21, 2026, from 12:00-1:00 p.m. at St. Matthew’s Temple COGIC, 110 Washington St. Tashaun’s Home Going Service and Celebration of Life will commence at 1:00 p.m. at the church.
