Mrs. T. Elaine (Peters) Talerico

NEW HARTFORD- Mrs. T. Elaine (Peters) Talerico, age 81, passed away unexpectedly on New Year’s Day, Monday, January 1, 2018 at the St. Elizabeth Medical Center. At the time of her passing, she was in the hearts of those she loved most. Born in Utica on July 7, 1936, Elaine was the daughter of the late James “Babe” and Carmella “Millie” (Torchia) Peters. She was a graduate of T.R. Proctor High School/Class of 1954. On August 25, 1956 she married Donald E. Talerico, Sr.; they shared similar goals in life, and where you saw one, you saw the other. They were truly in love and Elaine was saddened by the loss of her beloved Don who passed away one week before their 60th wedding anniversary on August 18, 2016. At one time, Elaine was employed by the New York Telephone Company. She also assisted in the office of her family concern, Peters Glass Company which was founded by her late father in 1936. But a majority of her life was dedicated to her family and home. She had a passion for cooking and baking, and many memories of great meals and good times will remain with her loved ones. Elaine had a knack for decorating her home and maintaining it meticulously. Her children were her greatest love, her grandchildren charmed her life, and her great-grandchildren uplifted her heart and soul. She was a fine woman and her life was blessed with the respect of her family. She and her late husband enjoyed socializing with their longtime friends and in later years, with their grandchildren. She was a communicant of St. Anthony & St. Agnes Church. Elaine is survived by her sons and daughter-in-law, Donald E., Jr. and Elena M. Talerico, and Robert J. Talerico; her grandchildren, Melissa (Talerico) Reynolds and her husband Todd, and Donald E. Talerico III; her great-grandchildren, Hayden, Isla, and Colton Reynolds; and her brother and sister-in-law, James and Bernadette Peters with whom she shared a great closeness; and her sister-in-law, Irene Talerico. She also leaves her nieces and nephews, Jacquelyn and George Mitchell, James and Cynthia Peters, Gary Talerico, Gail and Jerry Collea, Linda and Joseph Sebergandio, Joseph Talerico, Michael and Ginger Talerico, and Michelle Talerico; great-nieces, great-nephews, uncle and aunts, Thomas and Lucy Talerico, and Jane Talerico; cousins; and her longtime friend, Carol Murray, with whom she shared a sisterhood. She was predeceased by her in-laws, Joseph “Jersey” and Bertha (Walczak) Talerico; and brother-in-law, Joseph R. Talerico, Jr. In keeping with Elaine’s wishes, her family will commemorate her life at a private time. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Elaine’s funeral service and Celebration of Life which will commence on Friday morning at 11:00 at St. Anthony & St. Agnes Church where her Mass of Christian Burial will be offered by Rev. Mark Kaminski. The family will receive visitors at the conclusion of Mass. Those wishing to express an act of kindness may make a donation to St. Anthony & St. Agnes Parish in Elaine’s memory; envelopes will be available at the service.
