Mrs. Susanne M. (Klein) Dellerba

UTICA - Mrs. Susanne M. (Klein) Dellerba, age 77, passed away on Tuesday, December 26, 2017 in the comfort of her home with her loving family by her side following a brief and courageous battle with cancer. Born in Utica on March 19, 1940, Susanne was the daughter of the late Spencer and Laura (Gross) Klein. Raised and educated locally, she was a graduate of T.R. Proctor High School. On March 24, 1958 she married Anthony “Tony” Dellerba who passed away on March 14, 1998, just ten days shy of celebrating 40 years together. More recently, Susanne was employed by Sturges Manufacturing. As a matriarch, she loved her children and grandchildren, and they were her greatest source of joy. She was always ready to participate in any activities or special occasions in their lives. Holidays at her house were festive celebrations and she was especially fond of Halloween. She was creative in the kitchen, stirring up Italian and German cuisine, but she also took delight in dining out at local eateries. She enjoyed socializing at the Parkway Senior Center, with her Red Hat Society sisters, and her fellow members of the Moose Lodge. Susanne’s vibrant personality and wonderful sense of humor will bring a smile instead of sadness when remembering her. At one time, she was a parishioner of St. Francis De Sales Church and was currently a communicant of St. Anthony & St. Agnes Church. Susanne is survived by her daughters and son-in-law, Christine “Tina” and David Stark of Sauquoit, and Joy M. and Richard A. Mariano of Utica; her sons and daughter-in-law, Steven L. and Aimie Dellerba, and Anthony M. and Lois Dellerba, all of Utica, Richard Dellerba and Stephanie Oldick of Deerfield, and Allen Dellerba and Brandie Field of Utica; her grandchildren, Samantha and fiancé Brandan; Stephani, Jade, Kaleigh, Autumn, Courtney, Colin; Anthony Jr., Joey; Kayla, Amanda and fiancé Jason, Richard Jr.; Alyssa, Nicholas, Kara and their mom Nancy Wameling Dellerba. She cherished the memory of her grandson, Joshua Dellerba. She also leaves her great-grandchildren, Dustin, Jordyn, Dakota, and Maddie; Alvin III, and Cataleya; her sisters and brothers-in-law, Lois Koscielniak and Bob Catrambone of Deerfield, and Janice and Edward Jennings of Utica; brothers and sister-in-law, William and Linda Klein, and Gordon Klein, all of Utica; nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, in-laws, Roseanne Klein, Catherine and John Whitted, John Dellerba, Joseph Dellerba and Sue Ann Dellerba; and her special friends, Judy Neary, Laith Alsamir and Gina LaBella. She was predeceased by her brothers, Edward A. “Ed” Klein, and John Klein; and sisters, Laura Puleo, Doris Buzzy, and Beatrice Morgan. The family is grateful to Dr. Amita Butala for her care and professionalism, and Dr. Sudershan Dang, and Dr. Semir Desai for their comforting care and concern. Visitation will be held Friday from 4:00-7:00 at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. Susanne’s funeral service and Celebration of Life will commence on Saturday morning at 10:00 from the funeral home and at 11:00 at St. Anthony & St. Agnes Church where her Mass of Christian Burial will be offered by Rev. Mark Kaminski. Interment will take place in Calvary Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
