Stefan L. Medina

UTICA - Stefan L. Medina, age 17, victim of a heinous crime, was taken from his family, friends, and those he loved when he passed away at the scene unexpectedly on Sunday, August 19, 2018. Born at St. Luke’s Hospital on November 24, 2000, Stefan was the son of Luis A. Medina and Ana Nanette Maldonado. Stefan was a young man with lots of positive dreams. He was currently attending BOCES Consortium of Continuing Education in the Young Adult Career Program. Stefan worked at A&P Master Images, a screen printing and graphic design company. Although venturing to his first full-time job, he showed initiative and creativity beyond his years. He was a lovable person blessed with positive energy and a sense of humor that could bring you to tears. He had a million dollar smile, an innocent heart, and was gifted with special social graces. It was easy to talk to him and love him. He was the catalyst for bringing everyone together to share loving family times. He was the baby and his family wanted him to be safe and secure. He was also smart, independent, and was a survivor. He was precious to all who got to know him. Honest and loyal to his word, he was at his best when he was helping someone. Handsome, tall, and charming, he took care of his appearance and had his own style when it came to his hair. He presented himself to others with respect. His music was an inspiration to him, particularly rap and hip-hop because it moved him with a message and a beat. Rapper Juice WRLD was his favorite, especially his songs Jeffery, and Lucid Dreams. His best video games were Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat, and Killer Instinct, and he was good at it. Athletic by nature, he was a smooth hooper and he walked or rode his bike to his destinations. Stefan was blessed with a wonderful family; he loved his mommy, his dad, his siblings, and his entire family. Although his young life was cut short, he would have been a good family provider and a person that you could be proud of. The Lord is present in his family, and they have the faith to support each other and bond together in the love created by this loss. His loved ones know he had a place in his heart for the Lord, and tried to live by his words. Stefan is survived his parents, Ana and Luis; and his siblings and their loves, Richie L. Nadal, Martin Martinez Jr., Kevin Medina, Cynthia Medina, and Madeline Medina. He was preceded by a sister, Lizzett in 1993. His home was filled with the love and laughter of his nieces and nephews, Nadia, Aden, Richie Jr., Angelina, Brielle, Maximus; Javien, and Elisia; and Aviana; and his maternal grandfather, Pedro Maldonado, his aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was predeceased by his maternal grandmother, Marcelina Vazquez; and paternal grandparents, Julio Medina Nazario and Lidia Maria Torres. The family is grateful to the Utica Police Department for their concern and kindness; Rachel from the YWCA; and all who are graciously making offers of generosity. Visitation will be held Saturday from 2:00-4:00 at Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. Stefan’s funeral service and Celebration of Life will commence on Saturday afternoon at 4:00 at the funeral home immediately upon conclusion of visitation with Pastor David Ossenfort officiating the ceremony. Interment will take place in Calvary Cemetery at the convenience of the family. “You were everything… RIP, Baby Stefano.”
