Mr. Slava Gololobov

UTICA – Mr. Slava Gololobov, passed away on his 59th birthday, Sunday, October 8, 2023. Born in Uzbekistan on October 8, 1964, to Gennadiy Gololobov and the late Svetlana Gololobova, it was there that he was raised and educated. In 1989, in Ukraine, he was united in marriage to the former Valentina Yevcheva and together the couple and their family immigrated to the United States, where they made their new home. The couple shared a loving and devoted union until her passing on August 2, 2010. He will be remembered as a kind man. Anybody that met him would remark on his wonderful sense of humor. He loved to keep things “light” and possessed a good heart and soul. A loving patriarch, he always offered keen advice and set aside time for anyone who needed him. He always wanted to see those he loved start off on a good path. In his spare time, he enjoyed woodworking and restoring old furniture to its former glory. He found joy bringing new life to many things that needed his attention. Many times, he would share his creations proudly with family and friends. He also loved spending time outdoors and could often be found fishing. He was proud of his Pentecostal faith and the fact that he was “born again.” Slava is survived by his father Gennadiy; his children Oksana and Gustavo Alfonso, Anna Gololobova, Kristina Gololobova, Gennadiy Gololobov; his grandchildren Daniel, Anthony and Leonardo Alfonso; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews; his mother-in-law, Kristina (Chenkova) Yevcheva; and his in-laws Nedezhda and Boris Turlak, Tatyana Yevcheva, Vera and Igor Romanko, Luba Yevcheva, Ivan and Yvgeniya Yevchev, Afanasiy and Svetlana Yevchev, Dimitriy and Anna Yevchev, and Anatolly Yevchev. He is preceded by his brother Oleg Gololobov, and his father-in-law Dimitriy Yevchev. The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thanks to the entire staff at Utica Rehab, especially his nurse Jake for going above and beyond, diligently caring for him and helping him heal; as well as the staff at St. Luke’s and St. Elizabeth’s. Visitation for family and friends will be held on Sunday, October 15, 2023 from 2-4 p.m. at Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. His funeral service and celebration of life will immediately follow at 4 p.m. Interment will take place in Forest Hill Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
