Mrs. Shirley A. (Bruno) Paciello

Mrs. Shirley A. (Bruno) Paciello, age 74, of N. Utica, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 30, 2011 in the comfort of her home with the love and support of her family by her side. Born in Utica on May 12, 1937, Shirley was the daughter of the late Jerry and Anna (Piperata) Bruno. She was raised and educated locally, attending T.R. Proctor High School. On August 18, 1956 she married Donald R. Paciello with whom she shared nearly 55 years. Shirley and Don worked well together to provide love and happiness to their home. Their commitment and positive outlook made for a wonderful life. Shirley was employed outside of her home with a schedule that always supported the needs of her family. The companies for which she worked included General Electric Broad Street Radio Receiver Plant; Con Med Corporation; M.V.C.C. in their food services department; UNIVAC; and lastly Lockheed Martin Corporation from which she retired. Shirley had a great sense of humor, an honest personality, and great strength of character. Her home was a haven for her soul, a sanctuary of comfort and security. But her greatest love was her children and grandchildren who renewed her in many ways. A festive woman, she took great pleasure in hosting parties for any occasion, and was affectionately known as “Party Paciello”. Each holiday was made more special by her enthusiasm in bringing all her family together for these joyous times. She was selfless in her actions and had a positive outlook in view of her physical limitations. Shirley was a bountiful and authentic cook welcoming many to her table. In her earlier years she enjoyed tending a rock garden that adorned her back yard, crafting ceramics, and collecting angels and bells. She was a communicant of St. Mark’s Church. Shirley is survived by her husband, Don; her daughters and sons-in-law, Donna and Robert Manfredo of New Hartford, and Denise and Larry Roach of Clay, NY; her son and daughter-in-law, Donald S. and Mary Lourdes Paciello of New Hartford; and her grandchildren, Robert and Paul Manfredo; Danielle Roach; and Dominick and Nina Paciello. She also leaves her sisters and brother-in-law, Frances and Sal Nicolette of N. Utica, and Diana R. Grumboski of SC; her brother and sister-in-law, Jerry and Marie Bruno of Whitesboro; nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and in-laws, Ray and Laura Paciello, and Dennis Paciello. She was blessed with many friends, some of many years ago and some of most recent times. She was predeceased by her brothers-in-law, Richard V. Grumboski, and Francis Paciello. The family would like to thank Dr. Joseph Booth and his wonderful staff, Dr. Emile Wassel, Dr. Dominick Aiello, the Dialysis Unit at the Masonic Care Community, and the nurses who were her “BFF’s”. Also, gratitude is given to the dedicated and outstanding staff of Hospice & Palliative Care, Inc. who allowed the family the ability to care for Shirley at her home with the dignity and compassion that made a world of difference. Visitation will be held Monday (today) from 5:00-8:00 at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. Shirley’s funeral service and Celebration of Life will commence on Tuesday morning at 8:30 from the funeral home and at 9:30 at St. Mark’s Church in North Utica where her Mass of Christian Burial will be offered by Rev. Mark Pasik. Interment will take place in Calvary Cemetery.
