Sharon M. "Shar" Morton

WHITESBORO – After a long and courageous battle, Sharon M. “Shar” Morton, age 68, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 21, 2026. Born in New Hartford on July 8, 1957, Sharon was the daughter of Donald and Shirley (Reece) Morton. She was a graduate of Whitesboro High School, Class of 1975. After graduation, she began a long and loyal career with Utica National Insurance Company as a Commercial Rater, from which she retired in 2022. For 36 years, she shared a loving relationship with her fiancé, John Lucarelli. A loving and devoted daughter, Sharon always shared a deep concern for the well-being of her family, especially her mom and dad. She also cherished her role as aunt to her niece, Courtney, loving her as her own daughter. Sharon was always there for her, attending many special events and activities, especially Courtney’s softball games/tournaments. She traveled all over to attend them and was Courtney’s biggest fan. She always looked forward to family functions, holidays, and events. Sharon possessed a reserved personality but was the kind of person you wanted on your side, as she was fiercely loyal. She rooted hard for the Rams and the New York Mets. She enjoyed taking trips to the casino, Las Vegas excursions with John, and trips with family and friends to sports games in a fancy limo. She also made many fond memories on her trips to Pellettieri Joe’s on Thursdays and with Lynn to Florida to visit her grandfather. She took great pride in her treasured red 1967 Ford Galaxie 500 convertible and went on many joyrides in it since she was 16 years old. Sharon is survived by her parents, Donald and Shirley Morton; her brother, Todd Morton; and sister-in-law, Patty Morton, with whom she shared a sisterly bond and who lovingly assisted Sharon through life’s obstacles with loving determination. Her memory will be cherished by her niece, Courtney Marie Zaino and her husband Michael James Zaino, Jr.; great-nephew, Nolan Maverick “Little Guy” Zaino; many cousins; her fiancé, John Lucarelli; John’s daughter and her husband Victoria and Pat Sacco and their children Gianna, and Angelo; special friends, John and Marie Lucarelli; and her longtime friend, Lynn Edwards. She was predeceased by her great-nephew infant, Maverick Thomas Zaino; her adored grandfather, Irving Morton; and her aunt and uncles, Gail and Lesley Heitz, and Robert “Bob” Morton. She additionally leaves behind her aunt, Elfi Morton. Sharon’s family is grateful to the Fourth Floor Staff of the Pines at Utica for their care and compassion. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to Sharon’s Graveside Service and Prayers of Committal which will take place at a date and time to be announced at Crown Hill Memorial Park, 3620 State Route 12, Clinton, 13323.
