Sarah M. "Meema" (Paratore) Spina

Mrs. Sarah M. “Meema” (Paratore) Spina, age 86, of Utica, passed away on Wednesday, January 24, 2007, at the St. Elizabeth Medical Center with her loving son by her side. Born in Frankfort, NY on March 14, 1921, Sarah was the daughter of the late Joseph and Maria (Grippe) Paratore. She was raised in Frankfort and graduated from Frankfort High School. In 1947 she married John R. Spina with whom she shared 39 years until his passing on July 30, 1986. Their relationship was blessed with harmony and devotion. A loving and compassionate woman, Sarah’s life was centered around her family and her home. Nurturing and gentle by nature, she was a source of strength and guidance to her loved ones. She was a communicant of St. Anthony of Padua Church Sarah is survived by her twin daughters and son-in-law, Christina and Christopher Holmes, and Patricia Carrow, all of LasVegas; and her son and daughter-in-law, Ronald and Bobbie Spina of Hinkley, NY. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Dina Williams and her fiancée Michael Partipilo, Gregory and Robyn Willaims, Maria Willaims and Tiffany Carrow; Great Grandchildren, Christina, Haily, Brett, Sierra, Evan, Richard, Timothy and Isabella; her sisters and brother-in-law, Rose Leonardi of Miami, FL, Fannie Bono of Frankfort, Florence DiGristina of St. Johnsville, and Tina and Sam Romano of Syracuse; her brother and sister-in-law, Frank and Mary Paratore of Utica; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and in-laws. She was predeceased by her sisters, Anna Percola, Mary Ciruzzi; and her brothers, Joseph, Sam, Peter, John, Edward, and Victor Paratore. Heartfelt thanks are extended to the nurses and staff of the Placid Household of the Masonic Care Community of NY for all the care, attention, and compassion shown to Sarah throughout the years. In keeping with Sarah’s wishes, there will be no calling hours. By family request, please omit floral offerings. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Sarah’s Memorial Mass to be celebrated at St. Anthony of Padua Church at a later date and time to be announced. For those wishing to do so, please consider memorial donations in Sarah’s honor to the Masonic Care Community of NY; envelopes will be available at the service. Interment will take place in Calvary Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
