Rose R. (DiLeo) Falange

Mrs. Rose R. (DiLeo) Falange, age 93, of Utica, passed away on Friday, October 10, 2008 at the Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare Center with the love and support of her family by her side. Born in Utica on December 24, 1914, Rose was the daughter of the late Frank and Maria DiLeo. She was raised and educated locally. On April 8, 1943 she married Daniel A. Falange with whom she shared 47 years prior to his passing on June 30, 1990; they were well-suited companions in life, and they shared a special love during their marriage. At one time, Rose was a seamstress for the local Oneita Knitting Mill. She loved her home and was devoted to her family. She upheld her Italian traditions of Sunday dinners and holiday gatherings. She participated in many exciting adventures with all of her grandchildren. In her earlier years, Rose volunteered with the American Red Cross. She practiced and honored her Catholic faith and was a communicant of St. Anthony of Padua Church. Rose is survived by her daughters, Mary Lou Wilson of Frankfort, and Sharon A. Falange, with whom she shared a home; and her son and daughter-in-law, Dominic and Lorianne Falange of Utica. Always close to her heart was the memory of her daughter, Eleanor R. Falange, who passed away on April 9, 2005. In addition, she leaves her grandchildren, Carlene and Dennis Dewane, Thomas Wilson, Jr., Melissa and Thomas Kowall, Bianca Falange, and Alessandra Falange; and her great-grandchildren, Dante and Devin Dewane, and Chelsea and Emily Rose Kowall. Survivors also include her brother and sister-in-law, Louis and Irene DiLeo of NJ; her nieces and nephews, especially acknowledging Sari Jean DeLuca and Frank “Butch” and Kathy Martello; her great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by her sister and brother-in-law, Anne and Steve Mino; her son-in-law, Thomas G. Wilson, Sr.; and her in-laws, Anthony and Louise Falange, and Frances and Frank Martello. The family extends appreciation to Dr. Amy Gorczynski for the wonderful and outstanding care that was delivered in such a personal manner; the staff of 3W of the Allen Calder Wing at the Faxton-St. Luke’s Healthcare Center who attended to Rose with much compassion. In keeping with Rose’s wishes, there will be no public visitation. By family request, please omit floral offerings. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her Mass of Christian Burial which will be celebrated on Monday morning at 10:30 at St. Anthony of Padua Church. The family will receive visitors at the conclusion of the service. Interment will take place in Calvary Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
