Rosemary L. (Asselta) Migliaccio

Mrs. Rosemary L. (Asselta) Migliaccio, age 85, went home to Heaven when she passed away on Friday, July 26, 2013 with the love and support of her son by her side. Born in Utica on June 23, 1928, Rosemary was the daughter of the late Rocco “Jake” and Leona (Bouvier) Asselta. Raised and educated locally, she was a graduate of St. Francis De Sales High School. In 1948 she married Anthony F. Migliaccio with whom she shared a wonderful and loving relationship filled with great affection and admiration. Anthony passed away on March 16, 1981. Rosemary worked in her profession as an accountant at Special Metals, and later at International Computers Limited (ICL). She was lastly employed by the Oneida Country Board of Elections. Rosemary was a selfless, loving, caring woman who was always concerned about the needs of those she loved. She brought joy to those who knew her through her kind words and wisdom. She enjoyed the common pleasures of life like keeping her yard tidy where she would enjoy a cup of tea and perusing the daily newspaper. Rosemary also was a talented cook, and challenged her mind with crossword puzzles and her luck with casino games on her computer. A practicing Catholic, Rosemary was dedicated to the Blessed Mother, always fulfilling her commitment to reciting the daily rosary for favors received. She was a former communicant of St. Mary’s Church and more recently a parishioner of Historic Old St. John’s Church. Rosemary is survived by her son and best friend, Randy Migliaccio, with whom she shared a special bond; and her brother and sister-in-law, Rocco and Marcella Asselta of Utica. Her extended family includes many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and in-laws. She was predeceased by her brother, John Asselta; her sister, Janet Asselta; and her close friend, Eleanor Falange. Randy extends a special thank you to Rosemary’s nieces, Michele LaPorte, and Arlene Capraro for always being there, not only for Rosemary, but also during his difficult times of need; as well as her cousins, Pauline Nicotera and Maryann Nicolette, and her sister-in-law, Sharon Migliaccio, for their kindness and support. As life passes and every day chores and activities become a struggle, Rosemary was blessed with the assistance and admiration of Anthony Sabatino, who she took into her heart and thought of as family. Rosemary’s family honored and commemorated her life at a private time. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her funeral service and Celebration of Life which will commence on Saturday afternoon, August 3, at 12:30 at Historic Old St. John’s Church where her Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be offered. The family will receive visitors at the conclusion of the Mass. Inurnment will take place in Resurrection Chapel Mausoleum at Holy Trinity Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
