Rose M. (Cariglio) DeSimone

Rose M. (Cariglio) DeSimone, age 89, of Utica, passed away on Thursday, October 1, 2009 at the Masonic Care Community of NY. Born in Woonsocket, Rhode Island on December 8, 1919, Rose was the daughter of the late Michael and Angelina (Sasone) Cariglio. Rose enjoyed her working years at the General Electric Company Broad Street and French Road plants where she was a dedicated employee until her retirement in the 1980’s. A hard working woman, she will be remembered by her friends and loved ones as being generous and friendly. Quick witted and sparkling with energy, Rose had a great sense of humor and loved to laugh. A woman of deep faith, she was a communicant of St. Mary of Mt. Carmel/Blessed Sacrament Parish. Rose is survived by her daughter, Mary Lou Bojdak of Utica; her grandchildren, Mike and Amy Bojdak of Ashburn, VA, and Tricia and Sid Morgan of Richmond, VA; and her great-grandchildren, Ryan, Sean and Mia. Survivors also include her sisters and brothers-in-law, Virginia Fiesthumel, her supportive caregiver, of Utica, Mary and Anthony Cassia of Clinton, and Nina and Harold Lansing of Sauquoit. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews, especially acknowledging those who offered Rose care and support in the final years of her life, including Candace Cariglio-Payne and her husband James, Linda and Larry Pacilio, Donna and Ed Warchal and great-nieces, Katie Pacilio and Emily Pacilio. She was predeceased by her sister and brother-in-law, Florence and Elmer Merklinger; her three brothers and sister-in-law, John Cariglio, Anthony Cariglio, and Joseph P. and Maria C. Cariglio; her nephew, Mark Anthony Cariglio; and her in-laws, Edward Fiesthumel, and Thelma Russo. The family is grateful to the staff of the Saratoga and Albany households at the Masonic Care Community of NY for their care and compassion. Visitation will be held Tuesday morning from 9:00-10:00 at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. For those wishing to do so, please consider memorial donations in Rose’s honor to a charity of choice; envelopes will be available at the funeral home. Rose’s funeral service will commence on Tuesday morning at 10:00 from the funeral home and at 11:00 at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel/Blessed Sacrament Parish where her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment will take place in Calvary Cemetery.
