Mrs. Rose M. (Schavone) Nuccio

UTICA - Mrs. Rose M. (Schavone) Nuccio, age 93, passed away peacefully in the comfort of the Abraham House on Sunday, September 3, 2017. Born in Utica on January 2, 1924, Rose was the daughter of the late Gerald and Cora (Viggiano) Schavone. Raised and educated in Utica, she was a graduate of T.R. Proctor High School/Class of 1942. A proud veteran of the United States Navy, Rose honorably served her country from 1944-1946. On November 2, 1946 Rose married the love of her life, Prosper Nuccio. They shared 64 wonderful and loving years together prior to Prosper’s passing on March 26, 2011. In 1965 Rose and Prosper established Chamberlin of Utica, a business they owned and operated with their son Gerald until his untimely passing on August 26, 2010. Rose spent her summers at the family camp on Oneida Lake and the winters at their home in Kissimmee, Florida. She enjoyed crocheting and spending time with friends at the AIM and going to the Turning Stone Casino. She was a member of the former Sons of Italy, the AIM, the American Legion, and long ago, the Moose Club. She was of the Catholic faith. Rose is survived by her daughter, Betty Buneo of Westmoreland; her grandchildren and their spouses, Renée and Frank DeAngelo, Brandy Rowan, Popie Nuccio, Melissa and Chris Green, and Jerry Nuccio. She also leaves her cherished great-grandchildren who meant the world to her, Marina DeAngelo, Anthony DeAngelo, Leo Green, and also Chloe Rowan; a special niece Lisa Putrello and her family; sister-in-law Mary DesJardins; several nieces and nephews; and her very dear friends Dolores Urgo and son Michael, and Tom and Lucy Talerico. Rose was predeceased by her loving husband and best friend Prosper; her beloved son Gerald; loving son-in-law Nick Buneo; brother Sam Schavone; and her in-laws Sam and Nettie Nuccio, Dr. Dominick and Yolanda Nuccio, and Dave DesJardins. Immediate and extended family are welcome to pay their respects to Rose on Thursday from 4:00-6:00 at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. Her Celebration of Life will commence at 6:00 with Rev. Anthony P. LaFache.Those wishing to express an act of kindness in Rose’s memory may consider a memorial contribution to the Abraham House, 1203 Kemble St, Utica, NY 13501. Private interment will take place in Calvary Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
