Rose A. (Pavese) Meenan

Mrs. Rose A. (Pavese) Meenan, age 88, passed away on Sunday, July 7, 2013 in the dignity of her home. Born in Utica on March 22, 1925, Rose was the daughter of the late Leonard and Mary (Volino) Pavese. Raised and educated locally, she attended T.R. Proctor High School. On July 24, 1948 she married Francis P. Meenan, Sr. with whom she shared 60 years prior to his passing on April 1, 2009; they shared the better part of their lives and their future together in a union of true companionship. For many years, Rose was employed by Caruso Cheese Company. She later held a position with the Utica City School District in the cafeteria at Columbus Elementary School where she served breakfast, and at Proctor High School where she served lunch, a position that brought her much happiness. Rose was a kind, gentle, loving soul who offered her heart and guidance to her loved ones. She was very easy-going and made friends gladly and graciously. She loved socializing in the good company of family and friends. At home, she enjoyed cooking and freezing her favorite fried hot peppers. In her early years, Rose reveled in roller skating with her beloved husband, Francis, and eventually introduced their daughter to the sport making it a family event. She was a parishioner of St. Mary of Mt. Carmel/Blessed Sacrament Parish. Rose is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Paul Talarico of Texas. She cherished in her heart the memory of her son, Francis P. Meenan, Jr., who preceded her in death. She also leaves her sister, Angie Pavese of Utica; her nephew, Larry Pavese and niece, Donna Angelopoulus; her great-niece, Elizabeth Pavese; cousins, and her friend, Clara Dempsey. She was predeceased by her brother and sister-in-law, Larry and Ethel Pavese. The family expresses sincere thanks to Sharon from CareGivers and Rose’s cousin Marie, and friend, Clara, for all their care and attention. Visitation will be held Monday from 5:00-7:00 at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. Rose’s funeral service and Celebration of Life will commence on Tuesday morning at 9:00 from the funeral home and at 10:00 St. Mary of Mt. Carmel/Blessed Sacrament Church where her Mass of Christian Burial will be offered by Rev. James Cesta. A graveside Committal service will take place in St. Agnes Cemetery with interment to follow.
