Mrs. Rose S. (Citriniti) Femia

Mrs. Rose S. (Citriniti) Femia, age 91, passed away on Saturday, February 1, 2014 at the Masonic Care Community of NY with her loving family by her side, following a brief illness. Born in Utica on April 15, 1922, Rose was the daughter of the late Frank and Victoria (Maio) Citriniti. Raised and educated locally, she was a graduate of T.R. Proctor High School. On December 4, 1948 she married Joseph Femia with whom she shared 45 years with open hearts and devoted love until his passing on March 24, 1994. In her younger years, Rose was employed with the Metropolitan Life Insurance Company in a supervisory capacity, a position from which she retired in 1984. At home, Rose was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother affectionately known as “Great Nonny”. Her happiness in life was derived from the time she spent with her loving family including the trips they enjoyed together. In addition, Rose was an excellent cook and baker; always sharing her delicacies with her loved ones. During her leisure time, she enjoyed reading books and watching classic movies on television. In the past years she was a longtime and faithful parishioner of St. Agnes Church. More recently, she was a communicant of Our Lady of the Rosary Church. Rose is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Rose and Paul Baccaro of Whitesboro, Victoria and Paul Mossotti of Syracuse, and MaryMargaret and Joseph PladoCostante of Whitesboro; her son and daughter-in-law, Rocco and Heather Femia of VA; her grandchildren, Paul and Amy Baccaro, Gina and Andrew Arcuri, Joseph and Maureen Mossotti, Jennifer Mossotti, Marc, John PladoCostante, MaryMargaret PladoCostante, Natalie Rose Femia, Hannah Femia and Joseph Femia; and her great-grandchildren, Ryan, Michael and Nicholas Baccaro; Mia Rose Arcuri and Andrew Arcuri. Rose was anxiously anticipating the birth of another great-granddaughter in March. Her extended family includes in-laws Theresa Pugliese, Rose and Joseph Pugliese, Nick and Lena Femia, Marianne Femia, Anna Femia, many nieces, nephews, as well as her in-laws in Italy. Rose also leaves behind her special cousin and friend, Kay Godfrey and her lifelong friends, Jessie Cicchelli and Evelyn Srour. She was predeceased by her sisters, Helen C. Vilardi, and Mary Delfino; her brothers and sisters-in-law, Vincent Citriniti, Anthony and Mary Citriniti, Fred and Frances Citriniti, a special niece, Mannina Femia, whose memory she held close to her heart; and numerous in-laws locally, as well as in Canada and Italy. The family would like to thank Rose’s physician, Dr. Gordon Fung and his staff for the many years of loyalty, care, and compassion; the Masonic Care Community staff of the Monticello Household, especially Dr. Guy Wilcox, Amanda, Vicky, Marsha and Dan, for the care and compassion shown to Rose and her family. Visitation will be held Friday from 4:00-7:00 at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. Those wishing to express an act of kindness may make a donation in Rose’s name to the St. Jude Children’s Hospital. This charity was very near and dear to her heart for many years. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home. Rose’s funeral service and Celebration of Life will commence on Saturday morning at 11:00 from the funeral home and at 12:00 noon at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel/Blessed Sacrament Parish where her Mass of Christian Burial will be offered by Rev. James Cesta. Interment will take place in Calvary Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
