Mrs. Rose B. (Brescia) Comito

UTICA - Mrs. Rose B. (Brescia) Comito, age 97, passed away on Monday, August 28, 2017 in the comfort of her home with her loving family by her side. Born in Utica on August 21, 1920, Rose was the daughter of the late Agazio “Michael” and Gaetana “Carrie” (Bellezza) Brescia. Raised and educated locally, she was a member of the first graduating class at T.R. Proctor High School/Class of 1938. On November 20, 1941 she married Frank J. Comito. During their 41 years together they were devoted to each other and their family. Frank passed away on July 12, 1983. Rose worked as a legal secretary for many years holding positions with Judge Jack Danella, Vincent Rossi, Sr., Stanley Palewski, and Judge Leon J. Marketos. As a matriarch, Rose was an extraordinary woman devoted to her husband, children, and grandchildren. Her family meant the world to her and she did everything she could for them. She served as a Den Mother for the Boys Scouts when her sons were young. She was an exceptional cook known for her delicious meatballs and other Italian delicacies. She was also a loving sister to her siblings and an adoring aunt to her nieces and nephews. During her leisure time, she enjoyed games of chance and crossword puzzles. She was a communicant of St. Anthony & St. Agnes Church and a member of the Christian Women’s Society, as well as the I.A.M. Rose is survived by her daughter, Kathryn C. Jackson of Sunrise, Florida; and her son, Dean F. Comito of Utica. She held close to her heart the memory of her son, Louis M. Comito who passed away on November 29, 2003 and his wife, Kathleen Comito who passed away on June 3, 2013. She will be remembered by her grandchildren, Frank and Heather Jackson of NC; Louis M. Comito Jr., Frank J. Comito II, and Suzanna Rose Comito and Daniel Matys, all of Utica; and Antoinette Marie and Chris Sebastian of Floyd. Always close to her heart was the memory of her granddaughter, Valerie A. Comito who passed away on December 26, 2016. She also leaves her great-grandchildren, Alex; Giavonna, Marcello and Luciano Andrako, Louis M. Comito III, Izabella Rose Lampron, Aurora Rose Matys, Bianca, Christopher II, and Caiden Sebastian; her sisters and brother-in-law, Teresa Brown of New Hartford, Carmella and Dominick Rose of Utica, and Patricia Salas of Baltimore; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, sisters-in-law, Jeanette Brescia, and Anne Balio; and son-in-law Ronald Jackson. She was predeceased by her brothers and sisters-in-law, Frank J. and Josephine Brescia, Anthony and Mary Brescia, Joseph J. and Betty Brescia, Fred A. Brescia, Nicholas J. and Genevieve “Jenny” Brescia; and her sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Joseph Riccardi. The family extends their appreciation to Rose’s caregivers, Chaka, Danielle, Maria, Melissa, Missy, Joanne, Amber, Regina, and Tammy for their loving care and compassion. The family will honor and commemorate Rose’s life in a private gathering. By family request, please omit floral offerings. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Rose's funeral service and Celebration of Life which will commence on Thursday morning at 10:30 at St. Anthony & St. Agnes Church where her Mass of Christian Burial will be offered by Rev. Arthur Krawczenko. The family will receive visitors at the conclusion of Mass. Entombment will take place in Resurrection Chapel Mausoleum in Holy Trinity Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
