Rose (Olivadoti) Campola

Mrs. Rose (Olivadoti) Campola, age 91, of Utica, passed away on Friday, March 16, 2012 at the Katherine Luther Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center, Inc. Rose was born in Utica on September 4, 1920, the daughter of the late Vito and Maria (Valone) Olivadoti. She was raised and educated locally. On August 21, 1943 she married Angelo A. Campola, Sr. with whom she shared 42 years prior to his passing on June 14, 1986; Rose and Angelo shared a special devotion and love to each other and their family. In her early years, Rose worked at the Oneita Knitting Mills, and as a loving matriarch her priority and mainstay were the needs of her family. She truly enjoyed life, her busy schedule, and always being on the move. Baking was her specialty, especially her delicious, ‘from scratch’ cakes. In her spare time, she solved crossword puzzles. She socialized at the North Utica Senior Center with her friends, played bingo, and visited the casino at times. She was a member of the Red Hat Society, the St. Ann Society, and a communicant of St. Mary of Mt. Carmel/Blessed Sacrament Parish. Rose is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Fran and Joseph Luggerio of Easton, MD; and her son, Gary F. Campola of TN. She cherished the memory of her son, Angelo A. Campola, Jr., who passed away on June 14, 2000. In addition, she leaves her daughter-in-law, Donna Torchia of Whitesboro; her grandchildren, Nicholas Luggerio, Jolene Lantz, Carey and Sean Schumacher, Peter and Jolene Campola, and Angelo “A.J.” Campola III and Jody Evans; her great-grandchildren, Kalilene Campola, Haley Campola, Hannah Campola, Anthony Campola, Joshua Lantz, Taylor Lantz, Reagan Lantz, Jacob Schumacher, and Jared Schumacher; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and sister-in-law, Josephine Campola. She was predeceased by her sisters, Angeline Pellegrino, and Mary Gazzilli; and her brothers, Frank Olivadoti, Anthony Olivadoti, John Olivadoti, Peter Olivadoti, Dan Olivadoti, and their spouses. The family sends thanks to Rose’s special nieces and nephews, Vic, Connie, J.R., and Angela; and her neighbor Betty Viana, for all their help and kindness; and the nurses and staff of the Katherine Luther Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center, Inc. for all their care and concern. Visitation will be held Monday from 4:00-6:00 at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. Expressions of sympathy in the form of donations may be made to the North Utica Senior Center in lieu of floral offerings. Rose’s funeral service and Celebration of Life will commence on Tuesday morning at 9:00 from the funeral home and at 10:00 at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel/Blessed Sacrament Parish where her Mass of Christian Burial will be offered by Rev. James Cesta. Interment will take place in Calvary Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
