Rosario R. DiFiore

Mr. Rosario R. “Sarie” “Rosie” DiFiore, age 87, of Marcy, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 26, 2011 at the Masonic Care Community of NY with his loving family by his side. Rosario was born in Utica on November 14, 1924, the son of the late Salvatore “Sam” and Carmella (Zito) DiFiore. Raised and educated locally, he was a graduate of T.R. Proctor High School. A proud veteran of the United States Army, he honorably served his country during World War II. On May 29, 1948 he married the former Jennie Ciccone, a blessed union of shared lives and memories. Rosie was the owner and operator of Dee’s Auto Repair located in Clinton, NY. He was a professional and certified auto mechanic skilled in all aspects of diagnostics and repair. Lastly he was employed with Frank Gee Chevrolet in Marcy, the position from which he retired. In his younger years, he loved to bowl, and he excelled at the sport of baseball. He was an avid fan of the NY Yankees, and a member of the Knights of Columbus 4th Degree. He was a communicant of St. Peter’s Church. Rosario is survived by his wife Jennie; his daughter and son-in-law, Janice and Jerry Zarnoch of Marcy; his sons and daughters-in-law, Robert S. and Cheryl DiFiore of NC, and Richard and Mary DiFiore of Baldwinsville; his grandchildren, Paul and Bess Zarnoch, Linda and Ray Hirtzel, Jerad and Natalya Zarnoch, Rob and Stephanie DiFiore, Carina and Mark Goodman, Michael DiFiore and fiancée Liz Murphy, and Mark DiFiore; and his great-grandchildren, Casey, Lucas, Madeline, James, Emma, and twins Justin and Landyn. He also leaves his sisters and brother-in-law, Santina DiFiore of Utica, and Loretta and Joseph Barone of Marcy; in-laws, Sarah Trunfio, and Rosalie and Archie Francis, all of Marcy; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his brother, Albert C. DiFiore. The family wishes to thank the staff of the Monticello Household at the Masonic Care Community of NY for the loving care Rosie received during his stay. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 5:00-8:00 at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc. 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. Rosario’s funeral service and Celebration of Life will commence on Thursday morning at 10:00 from the funeral home and at 11:00 at St. Peter's Church where his Mass of Christian Burial will be offered. Interment will take place in Calvary Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
