Ronald A. Burger, Sr.

Mr. Ronald A. Burger, Sr., age 64, of Whiteboro, passed away in the privacy of his home on Thursday, August 20, 2009. Born in Utica on October 28, 1944, Ronald was the son of the late Arthur J. and Cecilia (Dote) Burger. He was raised and educated locally. It was on June 1, 1963, in St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Church, that he married the former Louise J. Rotundo with whom he shared 46 years. A hard-working man, Ron was the owner of Ron’s Flooring Company in Utica, a successful business from which he retired in 1990. A loving husband and father, he also thought of his cousins as siblings since he did not have any brothers or sisters. Helping people was a gift that Ron shared and extended to anyone with whom he came into contact. He was a classic car enthusiast and especially enjoyed NASCAR racing. He was also a member of the Elks Utica Lodge #33. As an outdoorsman, he pursued the sport of recreational hunting in the Adirondack Mountains and he was fond of fishing in Florida. He was a parishioner of Our Lady of the Rosary Church. Ron is survived by his wife, Louise; his daughter and son-in-law, Christine and Rob Bennett of Brockport, NY; his son and daughter-in-law, Ronald II and Marnie Burger of Port Charlotte, FL; his grandchildren, Jessica Burger, Jennifer Burger, Brittney Burger, and Brandon Burger; and his four great-grandchildren. Survivors also include his aunt, Dolores Eichstadt of Utica; his many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, especially John Dote, Sr., John Dote, Jr., Cindy Hammond and her companion Butch, and Bobby Eichstadt; his in-laws, Julia and Samuel Gendron of N. Syracuse, and Cecilia C. Milozzo of Utica; and his dear friends, George and Karen Mender, Dom Massita, and David Barris. He was predeceased by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Louis and Jeanette Rotundo, and many other extended family members. The family wishes to thank all the Emergency Medical Service Personnel who responded and offered their compassionate efforts. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 4:00-7:00 at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. Members of Elks Utica Lodge #33 will conduct ritualistic services Tuesday evening at 6:30. By family request, please omit floral offerings. For those wishing to do so, please consider memorial contributions in Ron’s honor to Spring Farm Cares Animal Sanctuary in Clinton, NY; envelopes will be available at the funeral home. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Ron’s funeral service which will commence on Wednesday morning at 10:00 at Our Lady of the Rosary Church where his Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment will take place in St. Mary’s Cemetery on Webster Ave. at the convenience of the family.
