Mr. Roger S. Gelfuso

NY MILLS - Mr. Roger S. Gelfuso, age 80, went home to the Lord on Sunday, December 11, 2022. At the time of his passing, he was in the hearts of those he loved the most. Born in Utica on March 8, 1942, Roger was the son of the late Dominick and Mary (Guidolotti) Gelfuso. Roger was first employed at the General Electric Company for numerous years. He then held a position at the Munson Machinery Company, from which he retired in 2015 after many years of service. He loved to cook, and his famous dish was sausage & peppers. At one time, he worked as a cook at Ida & Nellie’s Waffle House. Roger was a man who loved life, enjoyed walks, bowling on 2 leagues at the Pin-O-Rama, and found pleasure in helping others. He loved traveling and being with family and friends. Roger’s life was filled with memories of his loved ones. He always told funny stories of his younger days, and how he laughed when he told those stories! Roger will be missed by many. Roger is survived by his beloved sister, Sylvia Gelfuso and her companion Ronald; several nieces and nephews, especially acknowledging Michael Grzesiak and wife Lana, and Christine Smith and husband Dan; great-nieces, great-nephews; his godson, Frank Grzesiak; cousins; brother-in-law, John Grzesiak; special caregiver, Dorothy Sapanaro and her companion Ken; and his feline companion, Snowball. He was predeceased by his brother, Vito Gelfuso; his sister and brother-in-law, Lydia and Frank Grzesiak; and special friend and coworker Jim Radlo. Visitation will be held on Friday, December 16, 2022 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Roger's funeral service and Celebration of Life which will commence on Saturday, December 17, 2022 at 9: 00 a.m from the funeral home and at 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart and St. Mary’s Church, 201 Main St., NY Mills, where his Mass of Christian Burial will be offered. In lieu of flowers, donations in Roger’s memory may be made to Sacred Heart & St. Mary’s Church. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home. Interment will take place in Calvary Cemetery.
