Roberta Rotundo

Roberta (Robbins) Rotundo Utica Mrs. Roberta (Robbins) Rotundo, age 67, of Utica, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, August 25, 2007, at the St. Elizabeth Medical Center. Born in Warsaw, New York on September 1, 1939, Roberta was the daughter of the late Robert J. and Arietta (Hendricks) Robbins. She was raised and educated in Norwich. On September 5, 1964 she married Anthony R. Rotundo, Sr. with whom she shared a dear and faithful unionof 42 years. Roberta worked as an assembler at General Electric Co. on Bleecker St. until the company’s closing. She later held a position at Mele Manufacturing Co. until her retirement in 2004. A selfless woman, she considered everyone’s needs before her own. Roberta enjoyed life to the fullest, and was devoted to her grandchildren who were her pride and joy. She took pleasure in collecting Chinese figurines, dolls, and angels, and during her leisure time she played bingo and loved going to the casino. She was a communicant of St. Mary of Mt. Carmel/Blessed Sacrament Parish. Roberta is survived by her husbandTony; her daughter, Robin Rotundo of Utica; her son and daughter-in-law, Anthony R. Jr. and Karen Rotundo of Whitesboro; her grandchildren, Michael Nelson, David Nelson, Krista Williams, Adrianna Rotundo, and Anthony Rotundo; and her great grandchild, Anthony Nelson. Also surviving are her brothers and sister-in-law, Robert and Oi Robbins (who was like a sister to Roberta), and Richard Robbins, all of Utica; her many nieces, especially acknowledging Misty Robbins, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins; her mother-in-law, Victoria Rotundo; her in-laws, Mary Ann Robbins of Utica, John “Jack” Battle of Remsen, Frank and Sue Rotundo of N. Utica, and Carol Phillips of Utica. She was predeceased by her brother, Donald G. Robbins, Sr.; her father-in-law, Ulderico Rotundo; her sisters-in-law, Ann Marie Battle, and Darlene Robbins; and her brother-in-law, Randy Phillips. The family offerssincere thanks to the management and staff of Hannaford Supermarket, Mohawk St., the nurses and staff of the St. Elizabeth Medical Center Emergency Room, and the Paramedics, for their care and concern to Roberta and her family. Visitation will be held Tuesday (today) from 4:00-8:00 at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. By family request, please omit floral offerings. For those wishing to do so, please consider memorial donations in Roberta’s honor to the American Diabetes Association; envelopes will be available at the funeral home. Roberta’s funeral service will commence on Wednesday morning at 10:30 from the funeral home and at 11:30 at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel/Blessed Sacrament Parish at Mt. Carmel Church where her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Inurnment will take place in Forest Hill Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
