Mr. Robert D. "Bob" Latray

NEW HARTFORD – Mr. Robert D. “Bob” Latray, age 57, passed away on Wednesday, June 12, 2024, with his loving family by his side, following a courageous battle with lung disease. Bob was born in Utica on February 17, 1967, to Jean (Duff) Latray and the late Ernest J. “Ernie” Latray. He also knew the love of his stepmother, Linda (Juckett) Latray. He attended Sauquoit High School. At one time, he was wed to Debra Taverne, and from that union came the blessing of three wonderful children. A mason by trade, for a time he owned and operated The Masonry Doctor in the Mohawk Valley. He also held employment with Lupini Construction, aspiring to be Superintendent, the position from which he retired. Bob was a selfless and giving man. If you needed something, he made it his mission to help you with it. He always found a way to connect with everyone he loved, exploring their interests. A handyman, he could fix almost anything in his “unique way.” Most importantly, he consistently made himself available to lovingly support his children and grandchild. Bob loved the outdoors and at one time he enjoyed hunting, snowmobiling, four-wheeling, and jet skiing. He was even an avid fisherman until recently. He had a green thumb and took immense pride in meticulously maintaining his garden and houseplants. He was always down for a game of cards and more recently found entertainment in playing the Nintendo game “Animal Crossing” with his children. Bob is survived by his mother, Jean Latray; his children, Skye A. Latray, Bobbi Kristina D. Latray, and Kimberly J. Latray; granddaughter, Celeste “Cece” Latray; siblings and their loves, Beverly Piccione and Leo Genung, Dawn Gates, Ernest Latray, and Steven and Michelle Latray. Bob held close to his heart the memory of his sister, Deborah “Debbie” (Latray) Wood, who preceded him on December 29, 2013. His loss is also felt by many nieces and nephews, including Jeremy and Ashley Piccione, Brittany and Tyler Kline, Amber Gates, Pearl Gates, Cameron Wood, Bryce Latray, Brody Latray, Brant Latray, and Brianna Latray; great-nieces, aunts, uncles, cousins; lifelong friend, Steve Christensen; special friends, Tara Marcotte, and Dave Miller; and many others with whom he forged relationships with through his time at Lupini Construction. Bob will also be missed by his beloved feline companion, Penny. The Latray family wishes to thank Dr. Wind and his secretary Tracy for their professionalism and care. Gratitude is also extended to Bob’s long-time physician Dr. William Ryan, and the doctors and nurses of the Cleveland Clinic. Robert’s Memorial Service and Celebration of Life will commence on Saturday, June 22, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at the Eannace Funeral Home Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. There will be an opportunity to greet the family at the conclusion of the service.
