Mrs. Rita G. (Sgobba) Tramacera

UTICA - Mrs. Rita G. (Sgobba) Tramacera, age 93, went home to her Lord during the most blessed time on Monday, March 26, 2018 at the Masonic Care Community of NY with her devoted family by her side. Born in Alberobello, Italy on August 30, 1924, Rita was the daughter of the late Giovanni and Anna (Recchia) Sgobba. She was raised and educated in Italy. On New Year’s Eve in 1956, in Italy, Rita married Amedeo Tramacera and soon after they relocated to the United States and settled in Utica. The couple shared a 46-year union prior to Amedeo’s passing on April 19, 2003. Prior to her marriage, Rita worked as a seamstress in Italy, creating glamorous gowns and elegantly designed dresses of exceptional quality and craft. When she started her family, after her marriage, she continued her art of sewing and fashioned outfits for her family and friends. A loving mother and matriarch, Rita was devoted to her family and was concerned about the well-being of all her loved ones, especially her grandchildren. She was also an excellent cook and baker. Every Saturday night, Rita found the time to watch the Lawrence Welk Show and on weeknights, her favorite “Wheel of Fortune” which she continued to watch up until her passing. Rita was devoted to her faith, offering prayers to her favorite saints for spiritual guidance. She was a parishioner of St. Anthony & St. Agnes Church. Before her illness she was a member of the Sts. Cosmas and Damian Chapel on Kossuth Ave. Rita is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Diana and Richard Imundo, Jr. with whom she shared a home, and Mary Ann and Steve Marshall of FL; her cherished grandchildren, Sarah and Benjamin Roorda, Justine Imundo; and her first brand new great-grandson, Theodore “Teddy” James Roorda who was born on the day that Rita went to heaven. She also leaves many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and a dear and loyal friend, Antoinette LaPaglia. She was predeceased by her brother, Franco Sgobba; her sisters, Teresa Sgobba, Anna Colobretta, Maria Politicelli, Nennella Panero, and Antoinette Politicelli; her nephews, Domenico De Carlo, Cosmo De Carlo, Frank LaParco, Mario De Carlo, Dominick Tramacera, and other nieces and nephews who resided in Italy; and her in-laws, Peter and Josephine Tramacera, Cosimina and Giovanni De Carlo, Francescella LaParco, Nicoletta Tramacera, Nina Tramacera, and Iolanda Tramacera. The family expresses their heartfelt thanks to the entire Masonic Care Community especially the staff of the Old Forge Household, for the amazing love and care shown to Rita and her family during her stay. Visitation will be held on Monday from 10-11 at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. Rita’s funeral service and Celebration of Life will commence on 11:00 at the funeral home and 12:00 at St. Anthony & St. Agnes Church where her Mass of Christian Burial will be offered by Rev. Mark Kaminski.
