Richard M. "Dick" Nasbe

Richard “Dick” Matthew Nasbe Utica Mr. Richard M. Nasbe, age 80, of Utica, passed away on Friday, February 22, 2008 at the St. Elizabeth Medical Center with his loving family by his side. Born in New York Mills, Richard was the son of Peter and Nazira Keamy Nasby. He was educated in New York Mills. He joined the U.S. Navy in 1944 and was stationed in Olathe, Kansas where he met the love of his life, Betty Cox. They married and enjoyed a loving union until her passing in 1995. Richard was employed for many years at Chicago Pneumatic Tool Co., and up until the time of his death, he was employed at Fraternal Composite. He was a devout member of St. Louis Gonzaga Church, St. Rosalia Society, American Legion Post #229 in Utica, and a life member of the Knights of Columbus. Dick was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was a friend to all who knew him and had a personality that drew people to him. He enjoyed playing golf, going to the Casino, dancing, and cooking, and he made the best tabbooleh and kibbeh. Dick was a loyal friend and was an inspiration to all who knew him. He faced many adversities in his life and managed to keep a positive attitude and a great sense of humor through it all. He was a gentle man and a true gentleman. Surviving are his children: son, Richard P. Nasbe and a special daughter-in-law, Linda; daughter, Karen Fairbrother and husband, David; a sister and beloved brother-in-law, Florence and Jim Bombace; much loved grandchildren, David Fairbrother and wife Jackie; Brian Fairbrother and companion, Carrie Miller; Kristin McCully and husband, Frank; Melissa Millward; Richard, Jr. and Deborah Nasbe; Matthew Nasbe, Keith Nasbe, Jennifer Stevens, Ricky Doolen, Rebecca Sharpe, and 13 great-grandchildren. He also leaves special nephews, James and Donald Bombace and their families. He leaves behind to mourn many good and longtime friends and a very special friend, Angie Giorgi and her family who he loved and adored. He also leaves his loving canine companion, Yankee. Richard was predeceased by his wife, Betty, and brothers, Edmund, Fred, Rod, and Albert Nasbe. Richard’s family would like to thank Father Bassam Saade for his spiritual guidance, and the staff of St. Elizabeth Medical Center Emergency Room and Intensive Care Unit, especially acknowledging Paul, Rusty, and Katie. Your care and compassion were so greatly appreciated. Visitation will be held Monday from 4:00-7:00 at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc. 932 South St. corner of Hammond Ave. The Prayer of Incense will be offered on Monday evening at 5:00 at the funeral home. The Knights of Columbus, Utica, will gather for a Prayer Service on Monday at 6:30 at the funeral home. Richard’s funeral service will commence on Tuesday morning at 10:00 from the funeral home and 11:00 at St. Louis Gonzaga Church, where the Divine Liturgy of the Faithful Departed will be celebrated by Father Bassam Saade, Pastor. Interment will take place in Calvary Cemetery at the convenience of the family. We will miss Dick, but he gave us many wonderful memories. He instilled in his family old-fashioned and solid values, and we only hope we can be as strong of body, mind, and soul as he was. He is now at peace and reunited with his loved ones in a higher place and encouraging all to get up and dance to “Old Time Rock & Roll”.
