Regina "Gia" Perry

SHERBURNE, NY - Regina “Gia” Perry, age 54, went home to the Lord when she passed away on Wednesday, June 29, 2022 in the company and comfort of her loved ones. Born in Utica on October 4, 1967, Regina was the daughter of the late Vincent “Jimmy” and Barbara (Franklin) Perri. She attended Cortland High School, but the most important periods of her life were spent in Utica. From her youth to the present time, Gia shared a relationship with Joseph Zarrelli; theirs was a true love that spanned 34 years. For over 15 years, Gia was employed by the Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, maintaining the facility and was an attendant. She was the ‘right-hand-woman’ for the operation of the Sherburne location. Gia was a beautiful soul, selfless in so many ways. She was an important part of her family and often shined in her motherly nature. Her great love for her kin was clear, comforting, cherished, and always reciprocated. She was a blessing to her family. Gia kept a meticulous home for her love, Joe, and for God’s creatures as well. She loved to care for animals, especially her canine companions. She took in Nature and had an affinity for birds who were her feathered friends. Gia attended St. Malachy Roman Catholic Church in Sherburne. A humble, gentle-hearted soul, she embraced her Catholic creed as a guiding light throughout the days of her life. Gia is survived by the love of her life, Joe; and her siblings and their loves, Vincent Perry and Colleen Szablewski, Christine and Anthony Lupino, Lillian “Lilly” Perry, Congetta Palmieri, Robert Perry, Angela Perry, Callie Perry, and Elizabeth Harron. She will also remain in the hearts of her cherished nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews who she loved as her own, cousins, and an aunt. She will be remembered by her longtime school mates, Michelle, and April. She was predeceased by her paternal grandparents, Ralph and Christine (Scalise) Perri; and maternal grandparents, Paul and Lillian May (Potter) Franklin. The family will honor and commemorate Regina’s life privately. Interment will take place in Calvary Cemetery at the convenience of the family. By family request, please omit floral offerings.
