Rachel (Maida) Roselli

Mrs. Rachel Roselli, age 89, of Utica, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 21, 2007, at the Faxton-St. Luke’s Healthcare Center with her loving family by her side. Born in Utica on January 3, 1918, Rachel was the daughter of the late Antonio and Maria (Augello) Maida. Raised and educated locally, she graduated from Utica Free Academy with the class of 1936. On February 14, 1947 she married Peter C. Roselli with whom she shared 48 years until his passing on March 24, 1995. As a couple, they were blessed with a devoted and happy life. Rachel was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who always had a smile on her face. Vivacious and active, she lived life to its fullest. She volunteered at the Faxton-St. Luke’s Healthcare Center Coffee Shop, the A.R.C. Thrift Shop, the East Side Senior Center, and was a member of the Sons of Italy Lodge #2054. Rachel was skilled in her handiwork of quilting, knitting, and sewing. She often shared her lovely creations with her loved ones. Rachel cherished the memory of her beloved son, Carl A. Roselli, who passed away in 1975. She is survived by her son Anthony Roselli of Utica; her daughters and son-in-law, Peggy and Vern Jackson of Johnstown, NY, and MaryAnne Roselli of SanDiego, CA; her grandchildren, Carla Keller of New Hartford, Rocco Roselli of Utica, Michelle Jackson of Watkins Glen, and Eric Jackson of Syracuse, and Justin Nordquest, and Gabriel Nordquest, both of SanDiego, CA; and her great-grandson, Alex Keller of New Hartford. Also surviving are her in-laws, Ray and Ouida Roselli of FL, James and Sheila Roselli of New Hartford, and John and Marge Roselli of FL.; nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and a special family member, Grace Talarico of Utica. She was predeceased by her sisters, Antoinette Maida, and Margaret Masercola. A special thank you is extended to Rachel’s in-laws, Sheila and Jimmy Roselli for their loving care and support throughout the years. Gratitude is extended to the entire staff of the Dialysis Unit of Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare Center for the loving care shown to Rachel. Thanks also to her physicians, Dr. Ira Tisch, and Dr. Charles Eldredge, and Cheryl for her special care, as well as Malinda, whose guidance and loving attention is greatly appreciated. Thanks also to the 6th floor staff of the Heritage Health Care Center, and the staff of 3West/CCU at the Faxton-St. Luke’s Healthcare Center for their kindness and compassion during the past week. Visitation will be held Friday (today) from 4-7 at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. By family request, please omit floral offerings. Rachel’s funeral service will commence on Saturday morning at 9:30 from the funeral home and at 10:30 at St. Anthony of Padua Church where her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment will take place in Calvary Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
