Pasquale F. "Pat" Caporale Sr.

Mr. Pasquale F. “Pat” Caporale, Sr., age 74, went home to be with the Lord as he passed away on Friday, December 7, 2012 at the St. Elizabeth Medical Center with the love and support of his family. Pasquale was born on January 20, 1938, the son of the late Edmund and Josephine (Caviola) Caporale. Raised and educated in Utica, he honorably served his country as a proud veteran of the United States Army. For over 25 years, Pat shared his life with Donna Williams; they were attracted to each other for their similar values and they had many fun loving times. His entire working career was centered around being NYS licensed barber; he began at his own shop located on South Street, and also rendered his services at the Masonic Home and lastly was employed by the Center Court Barber Shop for 33 years. In addition, he earned a locksmith certification which led to his secondary career. As a horse trainer, he was a certified driver which enabled him to live out the passion and pastime of being involved at Vernon Downs racetrack. He was dependable, on time, and compassionate. A comedian at heart, Pat often made funny home videos that were hysterical and provided precious memories for his loved ones. Although he had a compassionate heart and was a thoughtful man, he could be a bit stubborn at times. He also had an animated personality and an abiding love of children especially in their younger years when he was able to impart his wise advice about life, guiding them in the correct road to travel to make things be the most positive as possible. He enjoyed his extended family in the workplace, especially Tony “The Boss”, his co-workers, and patrons. He pursued many leisure talents including fishing and playing pool, strumming his guitar and singing his favorite country songs, and performing in bands that played at the Masonic Home, and Partner’s Choice. His greatest pastime was going to the casino where he made many friends and played his favorite games of poker and Super Ball Keno. Pat also had a fondness for animals and a great love for his pets. Pat is survived by his girlfriend and companion, Donna; his children and their spouses, Pasquale “Pat” and Heidi Caporale, Jr., Loriann Heitz, and Kimberly and William Smith; his grandchildren, Justin Caporale; Brittany, and Collin; and Will, and Gabriel. Also left to remember his words of wisdom are Donna's family, Kim De Simone, Lela and Dave Zammiello, Kelly Lynn and Victor Castronovo, and Ryan Williams and his "12" grandchildren; as well as his many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, sister-in-law, Judith Caporale, aunt Frances “Fray” Caviola; and his beloved neighbors Swatta, her husband and their children, Duddie and Netti. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Steve and Frank A. Caporale. The family is grateful to all of Pat’s physicians for their unending commitment; and the 4th Floor staff at the St. Elizabeth Medical Center for the exceptional and genuine care rendered to Pat and the compassion extended to the family as well. Pat’s family will gather and celebrate his life at a private time.
