Nellie T. Robilotto

Nellie T. Robilotto, age 91, of Utica, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 20, 2011 at the Katherine Luther Home & Rehabilitation Center where she had been residing. Born in Utica on August 23, 1919, Nellie was the daughter of the late Dominick and Mary (Pape) Robilotto. She was raised and educated locally and was a graduate of T.R. Proctor High School’s first graduating class of 1938. Nellie started her working career at the A & P Grocery Store located on Genesee Street. She held various positions there and through her repeated efforts and dedication she worked her way up to Head Cashier, the position from which she retired. Nellie was quiet by nature, and blessed with a warm and gentle heart. She lived a well-rounded and fulfilling life. She loved to travel and over the years she visited Hawaii, California, Florida, and Italy. She was a member of the Omicron Kappa Epsilon Sorority for 50 years, and the North Utica Senior Center where she enjoyed participating in arts & crafts. She was uplifted by her Catholic faith, and her prayer book and rosary were always with her. She made a pilgrimage to St. Anne’s Shrine in Canada and was a faithful parishioner of St. Peter’s Church where she was active in the Altar Rosary Society. Nellie is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Lucy and Jim Rondinelli of Utica; her brother, Rocco Robilotto of FL; many loved nieces and nephews; great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and her lifelong friend, Angeline Doti. She was predeceased by her sisters and brother-in-law, Annette Dempsey, Philomena R. Robilotto, Josephine Robilotto, and Rose and John Lofaro; her brother and sister-in-law, Michael and Virginia Robilotto; and her sister-in-law, Dorothy Robilotto. The family extends sincere thanks to the staff of the Gordon Wing at the Katherine Luther Home for their years of care and kindness to Nellie. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 5:00-7:00 at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of the Hammond Ave. For those wishing to do so, please consider a memorial donation in Nellie’s honor to a charity of choice. Nellie’s funeral service and Celebration of Life will commence on Wednesday morning at 9:00 from the funeral home and at 10:00 at St. Peter’s Church where her Mass of Christian Burial will be offered by Rev. David Orzel. Interment will take place in Calvary Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
