Muriel (Ainsworth) Cittadino

CLINTON- Mrs. Muriel (Ainsworth) Cittadino passed away on Monday, February 27, 2023 at the age of 84, with her loved ones by her side. Muriel was born in Utica on June 6, 1938, to the late Millard and Alice (Williams) Ainsworth. She was raised and educated in Utica, and was a graduate of Utica Free Academy. On June 12, 1957, Muriel wed Peter M. Cittadino, with whom she shared over 45 years prior to his passing on October 29, 2002. In her earlier years, Muriel held a position at a local bank. She was a gifted vocalist, keyboardist and offered her talents as a piano instructor. Her gift also allowed her to become the organist and Sunday school teacher at New Hartford Methodist Church, a church held dear to her heart due to the generations in her family who worshipped there. Lastly, she also held a position as a nurse’s aide at the Presbyterian Home until her retirement in 1986. Muriel was very outgoing and loving. She loved crafting, especially knitting, sewing, and quilting, and loved to share her creations with her loved ones. She was the community “mom,” always there to share her love and support with all those in the neighborhood. She was always energetic and hardworking—her family marveled at her ability to remodel their home. She was a woman ahead of her time. Muriel was a member of St. Mary and Mt. Carmel/Blessed Sacrament Parish. Muriel is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Laurie and David Lloyd, Rosella and Rocco Pandolfo; her sons and daughters-in-law, John and Barbara Cittadino, and Peter and Lorraine Cittadino. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Alyssun and Chris Scuderi, Evan and Brittany Lloyd, Andrew and Miranda Lloyd, Hayley and Joe Storm, and Morgan Lloyd; Anthony, Louisa, and Rocco Pandolfo; and Darcey and Pablo Rodriguez; as well as her cherished great-grandchildren, Tyler, Emma, Gemma, Britton, Charlotte, Camryn, Lincoln, and Atticus; Niece Maria Allen and her late husband Jim Allen Nephew John Sirianni, Niece Elaine Burrows and husband Dean and family, and her dear friend Betty Arcuri. She was predeceased by her brothers Forrest and, R. Lynn Ainsworth, and sister in-law Carolyn Ainsworth; her in-laws, Jack and Frances Harrington, Frank and Mary Citro, Joseph A. Nancy Cittadino, and Joseph Cittadino who passed in infancy, and Niece Rose Ann Sirianni. Muriel was also predeceased by her beloved animals Ollie the African Gray and dog Cookie who provided her companionship and love. Muriel’s family would like to extend a special thank you to the Gordon Rehabilitation Unit at the Katherine Luther Residential Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center for making her time enjoyable, providing a loving environment, as well as Dr. Kozminski, her personal physician and very attentive staff for their care and compassion. Muriel’s family will honor her life with a private gathering at a later date.
