Michael A. Taurisano, Jr.

Mr. Michael A. Taurisano, Jr., age 56, of Utica, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, December 12, 2005, in the comfort of his home. Born in Utica on July 2, 1949, Michael was the son of Michael A. Taurisano, Sr. and the late Rose (LaCanna) Taurisano. Raised and educated locally, he graduated from T.R. Proctor High School in 1967. An outstanding athlete, he was a member of the Proctor basketball team that took the State Championship; he was also the high-jump champion and record-holder for many years. On September 28, 1986 he was joined in marriage with the former Carol C. Jones. Throughout their 19-year union, the pair have loved and cared for one another. Carol has always credited Michael with being "the gasoline to her match." In the 1970's Mr. Taurisano worked for Mutual of Omaha in Rochester. Michael was credited for being a loyal friend and had many memorable "doc holidays." In his leisure time, he was an avid reader and a true history buff. Ever the sportsman, he was among the greatest and most steadfast fans of baseball's Atlanta Braves and football's Kansas City Chiefs. Mr. Taurisano is survived by his wife, Carol; his father, Michael A. Taurisano, Sr. of Utica; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Anne Marie and Arthur Swinegar of Whitesboro, and Donna and Cosmo Pellegrino, Jr. of Deerfield; and a brother and sister-in-law, Robert Taurisano, whom he loved dearly, and Robert's wife, Cathy, of Utica. He is also survived by a devoted aunt, Eileen Taurisano; his nieces and nephews, especially James Taurisano, Justin Taurisano, and Christopher Jones, with each of whom he shared a special relationship; his great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins, especially John Booth; his in-laws, including Helen Jones, Alex H. and Norma Jones, and William IV and Mary Jones; and the friends of his youth from his neighborhood, Marty Broccoli, Billy Lenuzza, Joe Valeriano, Ralph Lupia, Louis Centolella, and Jerry Lewek, Paul Mancuso, and Frank DeFazio. Also surviving are his daughter, Regina; and his grandson, Anthony. The family offers its sincere thanks to Dr. Ulahannan for his many years of kindness. Visitation will be held today (Wednesday) from 4-6 at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. with his funeral service following at 6 p.m. with the Rev. Anthony P. LaFache officiating. By family request, please omit floral offerings.
