Mr. Michael D. "Mikey" Kelly

Michael D. “Mikey” Kelly, age 21, passed away on Thursday, June 30, 2016, at the Abraham House after a long battle with Cystic Fibrosis. He knew parental love and was a son to Santana, whom he called “Ma” and Alexis “Alex” Charlotteen. He was born and raised in Utica and attended T.R. Proctor High School. Mikey showed great strength and courage as he battled Cystic Fibrosis. Displaying the heart of a giant, he faced what was dealt him with his characteristic humor, sense of fun, and outgoing nature. Mikey focused on bringing happiness and love to others, even in the midst of difficulties with his illness. He was grateful for every moment he got to spend with family and friends. Michael’s beautiful, amazing spirit left all who came in contact with him in awe as they saw life through his eyes. He displayed his creativity by writing short stories and poems and practicing photography. Everyone knew that he had a number one request-- his favorite dish, mac and cheese-- which he would love to have anytime, anywhere. Michael is survived by his parents Santana and Alexis Charlotteen; five sisters and a brother-in-law: Stacey and Zachary Bush, Brittany, Mariah, Julianna, and Alessandra; six brothers: Thomas “T.J.”, Anthony, James, Savan, Alexis, Jr., and Gabriel; his niece, Brooklyn, and nephew, Noah; cousins Kayla, and Steven Morrock and their mother, Mona; and his uncle, Joseph “Joe” Bartolomie. Among the many friends and extended family members, Michael also leaves his first love, his girlfriend, Alexis Perreault, his “blue rose”, and two great friends, Sam and Lenzel. The family would like extend their extreme gratitude to the doctors, nurses, and staff at Syracuse University Hospital for the many years of care they provided to Michael. Heartfelt thanks, appreciation, and love are sent to the staff and volunteers at the Abraham House, especially the Hospice nurses. Visitation will be held on Saturday from 1:00-3:00 at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South Street, corner of Hammond Avenue. Michael's funeral service and Celebration of Life will commence at 3:00 immediately upon conclusion of visitation with Elizabeth Giarrusso, CSJ, officiating the ceremony.
