Mary Theresa (Gagliardotto) Conte

Mrs. Mary Theresa (Gagliardotto) Conte, age 80, of Rome, passed away on Saturday, January 10, 2009 in the privacy of her home with her loving family by her side. Born in Brooklyn, NY on June 6, 1928, Mary was the daughter of the late Frank and Louise (Banner) Gagliardotto. She was raised and educated in Brooklyn where she married Charles S. “Chuck” Conte on July 3, 1948; the couple shared a 47 year union that was blessed with much love and commitment prior to Chuck’s passing on Christmas Day 1995. At one time, Mary was employed at the Univac Corporation and she subsequently worked at Par Technology Corporation, the position from which she retired. A nurturing matriarch, she loved raising her children --- caring, cooking, and providing for them. She also held a great adoration for her grandchildren, and treasured the time spent with them. Vivacious and fun-loving, in years past Mary enjoyed dancing with her husband when they went out on Saturday nights, and visiting the casino on Sunday afternoons. She was a communicant of St. Mary of Mt. Carmel/Blessed Sacrament Parish. Mary is survived by her sons and daughter-in-law, Frank A. Conte of Utica, and Carl J. and Lisa Conte of Rome; and her grandchildren, Craig Conte of Syracuse, and Briana Miner, and Derek Bruce, both of Rome, NY. Survivors also include her sisters and brother-in-law, Sadie Hoffman with whom she resided, and Gloria and Charles Carrillo of Long Island; her nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and in-laws, John Conte of Las Vegas, NV, Joseph Conte of Utica, Rose Marie Love of AZ, and Georgette Conte of Syracuse. She also leaves her special friends, Maryann Kennedy of Utica, Marcia Boyer of Rome, Erica and Charlie, and Mary Jones. She was predeceased by her sister, Rose Macaluso; her brother, Joseph Banatello; and her sister-in-law, Lucille R. Conte. The family is grateful to Dr. Erick Bulawa, Dr. Beth Bulawa, and Dr. Anwar Wassel for their care, compassion, and friendship. Visitation will be held Tuesday (today) from 4:00-7:00 at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. Mary’s funeral service will commence on Wednesday morning at 8:30 from the funeral home and at 9:30 at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel/Blessed Sacrament Parish where her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated.
