Mary T. (Duffy) Pacciarelli

Mrs. Mary T. (Duffy) Pacciarelli, age 90, a longtime Utican who most recently resided at the Presbyterian Home for CNY, Inc., passed away on Tuesday, March 7, 2006, at the Siegenthaler Center with her loving family by her side. Born in Utica on September 26, 1915, Mary was the daughter of the late Michael and Bridget (Ryan) Duffy. She was raised and educated locally. It was in the Church of the Blessed Sacrament in September of 1940 that she married Victor "Jack" Pacciarelli. During their 34-year union, Mary and Jack proved to be a couple who were especially well-suited to one another. They enjoyed a marriage that was filled with mutual devotion and a shared dedication and concern for their family life. Mr. Pacciarelli passed away on December 22, 1974. The focus of Mary's existence was her family and her home. She was accepting and nurturing and will be remembered as a sweet woman, which was evident in her smile. She had a unique way of making those she loved feel special and appreciated. Mary possessed a true spirituality and positive blessings that filled her heart. Her greatest accomplishments in life were those generated from her wonderful family and the special relationships she shared with her grandchildren. The best of memories were filled with wonderful family celebrations and gatherings. She was a lifelong communicant of the Church of the Blessed Sacrament. Mrs. Pacciarelli is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Patricia A. and Lawrence A. Tomaselli of New Hartford, and Barbara and Philip Taurisano of Fayetteville, NY; her grandchildren, Lori and James Holdgrafer of Ft. Meyers, FL, Gina Tomaselli of Tampa, FL, Michael Tomaselli of N. Ft. Meyers, FL, Marc Taurisano of NYC, and Jon and Rebecca Taurisano of Arlington, VA; and her great-grandchildren, Jimmy and Nicole Holdgrafer. She is also survived by a sister and brother-in-law, Evelyn and Anthony DiAndrea of Utica; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins; and a sister-in-law, Mary (Robertelli) Pacciarelli of Utica. Mary shared a special friendship with Lucille Taurisano, the mother of Philip; her son-in-law; and with her sisters, Marie Talerico and Phyllis Finn. She was predeceased by a sister, Josephine Nail; and her in-laws, Gabriel J. Pacciarelli, Sr., Pasquale "Pat" and Mary Pacciarelli, Angelo and Mary Pacciarelli, Frances and Joseph Piccolino, Nancy and Joseph Dastoli, Theresa and Louis Robertelli, Mary and Serafino Barile, and Grace and Andrew DiOrio. A special thank you to the attentive and caring staff of the Presbyterian Home for CNY, Inc., as well as the compassion of the caretakers at the Siegenthaler Center who cared for Mary during the final portion of her journey. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 10-11 at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. By family request, please omit floral offerings. For those wishing to do so, please consider memorial donations in Mary's honor to the Siegenthaler Center or to the Presbyterian Home for CNY, Inc.; envelopes will be available at the funeral home. Mrs. Pacciarelli's funeral will commence on Thursday at 11:00 from the funeral home and at 12:00 at the Church of the Blessed Sacrament where her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment will take place in Calvary Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
