Mrs. Mary J. (Blando) LoGalbo

Mrs. Mary J. (Blando) LoGalbo, age 95, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 8, 2015 at The Cottages at Garden Grove in Cicero. At the time of her passing, she was in the hearts of those she loved most. Born in Utica on October 18, 1919, Mary was the daughter of the late Paul and Anna (Morreale) Blando. Raised and educated locally, she was a graduate of Utica Free Academy. On September 1, 1940 she married Russell S. LoGalbo with whom she shared nearly 50 years in a marriage that echoed the strength, loyalty, and ethics of their era. Russell passed away in 1990. At one time, Mary was employed by the Utica Carting and North Motor & Equipment Company as a bookkeeper. Concurrently, she worked alongside her husband at their family-owned and operated business, the Blue Ribbon Market located at 1617 Bleecker Street. Mary’s family was foremost in her mind and heart. She provided her children with maternal love and guidance that gave them the groundwork to become responsible adults. A devout Catholic, Mary practiced her faith at St. Agnes Church, St. Peter’s Church, and St. Anthony and St. Agnes Parish. Mary is survived by her sons and daughter-in-law, Paul and Margaret “Peggy” LoGalbo of Vestal NY, Russell V. LoGalbo of Brewerton and Karin Kohl. She held close to her heart the memory of her son, Dr. Carlo Thomas LoGalbo, who passed away on August 13, 2013. She also leaves her beloved grandchildren, Christine LoGalbo, Alicia and Derek Moore, and Mary Theresa LoGalbo; Thomas LoGalbo, Michelle LoGalbo, Gabrielle LoGalbo, and Nicole LoGalbo; her great-grandchildren, Nathan and Rachael; Eva, and Mira; Sienna, and Ella; and Jamie. She will also remain in the hearts of her nieces, and nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and a sister-in-law, Lucille Blando. She was predeceased by her brothers and sisters-in-law, Russell and Natalie Blando, Thomas and Angela Blando, Anthony and Lucille Blando; her sister and brother-in-law, Frances and Chauncy Izzo; and her in-laws, Joseph and Philomena LoGalbo, Philip A. and Connie LoGalbo, Mary and Pepe Tripoli, and Ann and Joseph Sardina. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4-7 at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. Mary’s funeral service and Celebration of Life will commence on Wednesday morning at 9:00 from the funeral home and at 10:00 at St. Anthony & St. Agnes Church where her Mass of Christian Burial will be offered by Rev. Mark Kaminski. Entombment will take place in Resurrection Chapel Mausoleum at Holy Trinity Cemetery.
