Mary (Stratico) Marco

Mrs. Mary (Stratico) Marco, age 95, of Utica, passed away on Monday, January 30, 2006, at the Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare Center with her family by her side. Born in Buenos Aires, Argentina on July 27, 1911, Mary was the daughter of the late Horacio and Louise (DeStefano) Stratico. She was raised and educated in New York City. In 1927 she married Vasco Marco with whom she shared a union of 50 years prior to his passing on May 30, 1977. For many years Mrs. Marco was employed as a seamstress at the Joseph & Feiss Co. She was a communicant of the Church of the Blessed Sacrament. Mrs. Marco was preceded in death by a daughter, Antoinette "Nina" Scarafile, who passed away on May 16, 2004; and by a son, Eugene D. Marco, who died on July 3, 1986. She is survived by her son-in-law, Vincent C. Scarafile of New Hartford; her grandchildren, Ann Marie Ruskin of VA and her husband, Glenn, Nicholas Scarafile of Utica, and a granddaughter-in-law, Beth, with whom Mary shared a special relationship, Marc Scarafile of VA, and Gregory and Lilly Marco of PA; and her great-grandchildren, Bryan Ruskin, Kara Ruskin, Kyle Ruskin, Sean Scarafile, Bella Marco, Eden Marco, and Toby Marco. Her survivors also include a brother and sister-in-law, Dominick and Patricia Daddiego of Harrisburg, PA; a number of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins; and many close and special friends. She was predeceased by two sisters, Josephine Pagano and Margaret Polacelli. The family offers its sincere thanks to the nurses and staff of the Presbyterian Home for Central NY, and also to the nurses and staff of the 3rd floor at the Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare Center. Visitation will be held on Thursday morning from 10:00-10:30 at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. By family request, please omit floral offerings. For those wishing to do so, please consider memorial donations in Mary's honor to the Presbyterian Home for Central NY; envelopes will be available at the funeral home. Mrs. Marco's funeral will commence on Thursday morning at 10:30 from the funeral home and at 11:30 at the Church of the Blessed Sacrament where her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Entombment will take place in the Resurrection Chapel Mausoleum at the convenience of the family.
