Mary (Camardo) Sangiacomo

Mrs. Mary (Camardo) Sangiacomo, age 91, formerly of Mary St., passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 25, 2007. Born in Utica on September 4, 1915, Mary was the daughter of the late Nicola and Angeline (Oliva) Camardo. She was raised in Utica and attended local schools. On August 28, 1937 in Utica, she married James J. Sangiacomo with whom she shared a blessed union of 62 years until his passing on November 23, 1999. Mary’s life exemplified goodness. She was a communicant of St. Anthony of Padua Church. Mary is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Kathleen and Ercole “Butch” Ventura of Utica and their children, Jackie Ventura Heitz, her husband Steve, and their children, Brendan, Brienna, and Trevor James, and Stephen J. Ventura, his son, Stephen and his mom, Dina Ventura; her son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Sharon Sangiacomo and their children, Christopher Sangiacomo and Jane Wright and her children, Henry and Kate, and Jennifer and John Ziemann, and their son Lucas William. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and in-laws, Irene “Nikki” Camardo, Angeline Camardo, James Ray, Rose Cingranelli, Lucy Fontaine, Edith Sangiacomo, and Rose Sangiacomo, who Mary considered as a sister. Mary leaves many special friends, too numerous to mention, at the Charles T. Sitrin Healthcare Center. Mary was the last surviving member of the Camardo family of Belle Ave. She was predeceased by her siblings and their spouses, Julia and Jim Cardone, Leo Camardo, Jennie and Len Wood, Peter Camardo, and Laura Ray; her nephews, Vito and Jack Cardone, Jimmy Sangiacomo, Edward Gallimo, and Jerry Sangiacomo of CA; and her in-laws, Josephine and Cosmo D’Amore, Tessie and Edward Gallimo, Sam and Anita Sangiacomo, Al Cingranelli, Charles Fontaine, Rocco Sangiacomo, and Jerry Sangiacomo. Mary’s family wishes to thank the entire staff of the Charles T. Sitrin Healthcare Center, especially acknowledging 40 West for their compassion and loving care rendered to Mary. Visitation will be held on Tuesday (today) from 2-4 and 6-8 at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. Mary’s funeral will commence on Wednesday morning at 9:00 from the funeral home and at 10:00 at St. Anthony of Padua Church where her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment will take place in Calvary Cemetery at the convenience of the family. “We are everything we are because you loved us”.
