Marion Elizabeth "Grandma Love" (Hill) Love

UTICA – Marion Elizabeth “Grandma Love” (Hill) Love, age 94, went home to be with the Lord in the comfort of His arms on Friday, May 3, 2024, with her loving family by her side. Born in Hudson, NY on October 12, 1929, Marion was the daughter of the late William “Bill” and Beasie Hill. She was raised by her stepmother, Pearl Lanaux. As a young girl, along with her family, Marion relocated to Utica where she has since resided. She was in a loving relationship with China Love, Sr. for almost 30 years before they wed in 1983, and from that union came the blessing of 5 children. They shared a devoted relationship and a lifetime of love prior to his passing on June 25, 1989. Marion was a deeply committed spiritual person and cherished her connection with God. She lived a long and fulfilling life. In her early years, she was employed by Abelove’s Linen Company and Roy and John's farm. Later in life, she also held employment with the Leisure Time Center where she enjoyed working with the seniors. Over 50 years ago, Marion decided to dedicate her life to the Lord and was a faithful churchgoer. Through the years she belonged to several churches including Emmanuel Temple, Holy Temple, Souls Harbor, and Bethany Presbyterian Church. Marion enjoyed dressing in her Sunday's best along with her hats when she went to the house of the Lord. She was the type of woman who always prayed for her family and kept her holy oil handy. Marion was a sweet woman with a witty personality and always kept you laughing with her jokes and one-liners. She was a woman who loved to travel especially to visit the Sheldon family, which she would do often. Marion also enjoyed other activities such as playing cards, bingo, and going fishing. She kept a smile on her face that was memorable to all those she encountered. She also had a love for dancing, whether on the dance floor or just sitting in a chair, she'd be sure to be seen busting a move to the beat! Marion is survived by her children, Denise M. Love, twins Chinarene Jackson, and Charlene (Fabian) Rivera, China Love Jr. and someone special she considered as a daughter, Michele Haggerty. She is also survived by her sister, Doreen Lacy. She leaves to mourn her grandchildren, Wayne Goodman, Denise Love, Jonathan Goodman; Latrice Guillory, Joseph Brown, Reinita Rivera, Fabian Rivera III; Cheryl Reed, Eddie Richardson; Shawntaja Bryant, LaChina Love, Shaylynn Chester; Charmaine (Edwin) Rosado, and a special granddaughter, Brenda Mowery; and a host of 19 great-grandchildren, 14 great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins; and friends, including Sheila Billins who she loved as a daughter, Dorothy Brown, Eldora Mosley, and the Sheldon Family of Albany with whom she shared many memorable moments. She was predeceased by her son, Herbert Jones; her daughter, Audrey Love; her husband, China Love, Sr.; and her brother, William 'Bill' Lanaux. The family wishes to thank the Sitrin Health Care Center, especially the Chestnut House, with special acknowledgement of Theresa King and Danielle. Gratitude is extended as well to the 5th floor staff at Wynn Hospital, especially Nurse Nate. Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 11, 2024, from 2:00-4:00 p.m. at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. Marion’s Home Going Service and Celebration of Life will commence at 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
