Marie A. (DiSpirito) Zuchowski

Mrs. Marie A. (DiSpirito) Zuchowski, age 89, passed away on Saturday, December 7, 2013 at The Pines at Utica with the love and support of her family. Born in Utica on June 11, 1924, Marie was the daughter of the late Thomas and Antoinette (DiMeo) DiSpirito. She was raised and educated locally attending T.R. Proctor High School. On August 21, 1948 she married John F. Zuchowski with whom she shared a perfect love during their 65 years together in life’s journey; their common goals and achievements were incentives to celebrate their lifelong happiness. Marie’s working days were spent at the General Electric Company/Bleecker Street plant where she held a position as a tester and later at the Joseph & Feiss Textile Company, for over 10 years. She was endowed with a strong moral value based on hard work and diligence. Marie was an outstanding and inspirational wife and an adoring mother, tending to the needs of her husband and imparting her motherly love and wisdom to her daughter. She kept a tidy home and was a fine manager of household finances. Her renditions of traditional Italian and Polish cuisine were unforgettable. She loved to dance to music, especially high-energy Western ballads and old country tunes. A good day for Marie would be remembered by a visit with her daughter, planting flowers around her house, and getting together with family. Marie practiced her Christian upbringing by devoting her life to the Lord and honoring his teachings and her Catholic faith. She held a deep devoutness to the Blessed Mother who looked over her life. As a communicant of St. Anthony & St. Agnes Church, when well, she attended daily Mass, sang in the choir, and was a member of the Christ Child Society. Marie is survived by her devoted husband, John; her adoring daughter and son-in-law, Valerie and William Corrigan of Liverpool, NY; her grandchildren, Daniel and Lindsay Corrigan; and her great-grandchildren, twins Alyssa and Brooke. She also leaves her sister, Anne Forlano of Ithaca; her nieces, nephews, especially acknowledging Raymond Niznik; great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, a brother-in-law, Joseph Zuchowski; and a sister-in-law Ann DiSpirito. She was predeceased by her brother, Anthony DiSpirito; sisters and brothers-in-law, Rose and Melvin Krebs, Elvera Passaire-DiTrinca and Julius Passaire and Tommaso DiTrinca, and Theresa and Chester Niznik; and brother-in-law Peter Forlano. The family extends appreciation to the 2nd floor staff at The Pines at Utica for the comfort and care provided to Marie during her stay, and to their continued outstanding care to her husband John. The family will honor Marie’s life in a private gathering. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Marie's funeral service and Celebration of Life which will commence on Thursday afternoon at 1:00 at St. Anthony & St. Agnes Church where her Mass of Christian Burial will be offered by Rev. Mark Kaminski. The family will receive visitors at the conclusion of the service. Interment will take place in Calvary Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave.
