Marie Felicia (Cordo) Milazzo

UTICA - Marie Felicia (Cordo) Milazzo, age 89, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on Friday, March 15, 2024. Born in Utica on May 12, 1934, Marie was the daughter of the late Rosario and Theresa (Denarola) Cordo. She was a proud graduate of T.R. Proctor High School/Class of 1952. Marie married her true love, Samuel M. “Joe” Milazzo, on June 18, 1955. Their love was apparent, and they were very devoted to one another and their family. Marie and Joe shared nearly 48 years together before his passing on April 30, 2003. Marie held a position with Kayser Beauty Supply, the position from which she retired. Her main purpose in life, however, was her family; just being in their presence meant the world to her. Marie believed that family came first. She enjoyed being the matriarch. Up until the end, she worried about what they were going to eat, and who would be making the sauce and meatballs. She put the needs of others in front of her own time and again. Marie was a treasure to all that knew her. She had a way about her of brightening your day and warming your heart. She was steadfast and strong in her convictions. She was a marvel at whatever task she set her mind to. Marie loved arts and crafts, and was gifted in her ability to sew. She also enjoyed the excitement at the casino. She loved to go shopping and eagerly awaited Christmas decorating each year. Marie loved her monthly meetings with the “Club Girls” and outings with friends. Marie was a member of St. Anthony & St. Agnes Church as well as St. Mary of Mt. Carmel/Blessed Sacrament Parish. Marie is survived by her children and their spouses, Joann and John A. Vetere, Theresa and Keith Kerwin, Regina and John Martello, and Joseph Milazzo; grandchildren, John A. Vetere, Jr., Joseph A. Vetere; Nicole and Andrew Methvin, Keith M. Kerwin; Olivia Martello, John V. Martello; and Francesca Milazzo; her siblings, Genevieve Venturino, and Michael and Judith Cordo; her many nieces, nephews, and godchildren; as well as friends too numerous to mention. She remembered fondly the family members who predeceased her, her brothers and sister-in-law, Francis and Vera Cordo, and Vincent Cordo; brother-in-law, Italo “Tim” Venturino; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Frank and Anna (Morreale) Milazzo; as well as in-laws, Millie Malorzo, and Angelo and Cecelia Milozzo. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Brian Chase for his care and wisdom; as well as to the second-floor staff of the Rehabilitation Department of the Sitrin Health Care Center. Visitation will be held on Monday, March 25, 2024, from 4:00-6:00 p.m. at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Marie’s Mass of Christian Burial and Celebration of Life, which will commence on Tuesday, March 26, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel/Blessed Sacrament Parish, 648 Jay St. Interment will take place in Calvary Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
