Mrs. Margaret "Marge" (Cahill) Wolkowicz

WHITESBORO - Mrs. Margaret “Marge” (Cahill) Wolkowicz, age 64, passed away on Friday, May 26, 2017 in the comfort of her home with her loving husband by her side. Born in Utica on December 11, 1952, Margaret was the daughter of the late Chester and Mary (Halligan) Cahill. Raised and educated in Utica, she was a graduate of Utica Free Academy/Class of 1970. On February 12, 1972 she married James R. Wolkowicz with whom she shared 45 years in a union based on love and lasting devotion. Marge retired from the NY Telephone Company and later worked at Hotel Utica, more recently at their front desk. She loved assisting people and thoroughly enjoyed her job. Marge was a loving, caring, and supportive wife and mother, and she did all she could to make sure her children had whatever they needed, including support for all their endeavors. As a grandmother, she joined the little ones playing with toys or board games on the living room floor. She was firm in handling problems, but soft-hearted in handling the emotions of her loved ones. Marge had a magic way of making everyone she met feel comfortable. She was an event planner for the Telephone Pioneers special events and gatherings, a task that turned out excellent every time. She was a parishioner of St. Anthony & St. Agnes Church. Margaret is survived by her husband, James; her daughter, Thea Martin of Tampa, FL; her twin sons and their wives, Jacob and Kimberly A. Wolkowicz of VA, and Joseph Wolkowicz and his wife Eddy Mae Bryant; grandchildren, Jimi Martin, Carly Martin, Margaret Paige Martin; Tyler Wolkowicz, and Ashlyn Wolkowicz; her nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, in-laws, Carol Wolkowicz, and Patricia and Rev. William Baugh; and the many special friends who graced her life. She was predeceased by her in-laws. The family will honor and commemorate Margaret’s life at a private gathering. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Margaret’s funeral service and Celebration of Life which will commence on Saturday morning, June 10th at 11:00 at St. Anthony & St. Agnes Church where her Mass of Christian Burial will be offered by Rev. Mark Kaminski. The family will receive visitors at the conclusion of Mass. Entombment will take place in Resurrection Chapel Mausoleum at Holy Trinity Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
