Mrs. Margaret A. "Peg" (Dowe) Costello

UTICA - Mrs. Margaret A. “Peg” (Dowe) Costello, age 72, passed away on Sunday, December 30, 2018 at the Masonic Care Community with her loving family by her side. Born in Utica on May 31, 1946, Margaret was the daughter of the late Albert H. and Margaret (Harp) Dowe. She was a graduate of Utica Free Academy, Class of 1965. On January 7, 1967 she married James Costello, Sr. with whom she shared 49 years in a loving and devoted union prior to his passing on November 6, 2016. At one time, Margaret held positions at White Tower, a job she frequently talked about. She subsequently worked for the General Electric Company as a stenciler, the position from which she retired. Margaret enjoyed her travels to Florida with her husband, and especially their memories of going to The Dukes at Old Town in Kissimmee, Florida. Margaret also enjoyed the good times camping with her family. She was an avid Yankees fan, never missing a game on television. She loved to dance with her husband and play card games, especially Skip-Bo. The core of her existence was her family and the generations that followed. Margaret positively loved and adored her children, grandchildren, and great-granddaughter with all her heart. Margaret is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, James Jr. and Joella Costello, Frank J. Costello, and Marcus A. and Roxanne Costello; grandchildren, James Costello and fiancée Chelsy Coveleski, Joseph Costello, John Costello; Miranda Costello and Edwin Martinez, Frank Costello Jr., and their mother, Rosemarie Costello; Marcella Costello, and Michaela Costello; great-granddaughter, Josephine; sisters, Lila Atkinson, and Laurice Gigliotti; and brothers and sisters-in-law, Joseph and Suellen Dowe, and Richard H. and Cheryl Dowe. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews, especially acknowledging John Costello, and Brian Costello; great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and in-laws, Violet and Pat LaGatta, Marie and Steve Clarke, John Costello and Tracy Jones, and Peter Costello. She was predeceased by her brother and sister-in-law, Albert Jr. and Yolanda Dowe; sister and brother-in-law, Beverly M. and Dominick DiGirolamo; special cousin, Victor Costello; and in-laws, Louis J. Gigliotti Jr., Donald W. Atkinson, and Frank J. and Mary Lourdes “Kim” Costello. The family extends sincere thanks to Dr. Sultana Razia and staff, as well as the staff of the Masonic Care Community, especially the Troy Household, for the compassionate care provided to Margaret during her stay. The family will honor and commemorate Margaret’s life at a private time. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Margaret’s funeral service and Celebration of Life which will commence on Friday, at 12:00 noon at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel/Blessed Sacrament Parish where her Mass of Christian Burial will be offered by Rev. James Cesta.
