Marcella I. (Kinville) Paternoster

Mrs. Marcella I. (Kinville) Paternoster, age 73, of Utica, passed away on Monday, January 2, 2006, at the St. Elizabeth Medical Center. Her loving family was by her side at the time of her passing. Born in New York Mills on September 1, 1932, Marcella was the daughter of the late Gertrude (Kinville) Zolandz and her stepfather, the late John Zolandz. Raised and educated locally, she was a graduate of NY Mills High School. On May 28, 1957 she married Vincent "Jim" Paternoster. Throughout their 47-year union, Marcella and Jim were blessed with the joys of an inseparable and loving relationship. Mr. Paternoster passed away on March 19, 2005. Her family takes comfort in knowing that Marcella is now reunited with her husband and her son, both of whom she cherished more than anything else in her life. For Marcella her home was her palace, and she was dedicated to making it a comfortable place for her loved ones as well. Her caring nature endeared her to her family members and won for her many close and loyal friends. Among her leisure time, activities, she especially favored the challenge of solving crossword puzzles. Mrs. Paternoster treasured in her heart the memory of her beloved son, James Vincent Paternoster, who died on November 20, 1990. She is survived by her grandson, James Vincent Paternoster Jr.; and her daughter-in-law, Belinda. She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Briana Lynn Paternoster, who passed away on June 1, 1990. Her survivors also include a sister and brother-in-law, Mary Ann and Robert Stopera of Deerfield; a brother and sister-in-law, John W. and Trudy Zolandz of NY Mills; a number of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and step grandchildren; and her devoted in-laws, Rosemary French of Whitesboro, Dominick and Connie Paternoster of Utica, Carmella Gallimo of Utica, and Louis and Jane Paternoster of Mohawk. In addition, she was blessed with many true and meaningful friends. She was predeceased by her in-laws, Edward Gallimo and Vern French. The family extends its gratitude to Dr. LaFont, to the outstanding nurses and staff on the 3rd floor of the St. Elizabeth Medical Center who were compassionate and conscientious in caring for Marcella, and to her in-laws who endeared Marcella into their family with much dedication. Visitation will be held on Today (Thursday) from 4 to 6 at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. By family request please omit floral offerings. For those wishing to do so, please consider honoring Marcella's memory with donations to the St. Cosmos and Damiano Society of St. Anthony of Padua Church; envelopes will be available at the funeral home. Mrs. Paternoster's funeral will commence at the funeral home Thursday evening at 6:00 immediately upon the conclusion of calling hours; Father LaFache will officiate at the service. Interment will take place in Calvary Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
