Mrs. Macey (Tata) Blase

UTICA - Mrs. Macey (Tata) Blase, age 93, went home to her Lord on Christmas Day, Tuesday, December 25, 2018 when she passed away at the Sitrin Health Care Center. Born in Utica on September 21, 1925, Macey was the daughter of the late Mariano and Angela Marie (Capoccia) Tata. She was a graduate of Utica Free Academy/Class of 1943. On June 5, 1948 she married Dominick J. Blase, with whom she shared 64 years prior to his passing on February 5, 2013. Their daughters, Rebecca Anne Teel, and Vanessa Marie Blasé, passed away in 2005 and 2017. They are all now reunited in Heaven. As a matriarch and mother, Macey dedicated the majority of her life maintaining her home, and meeting her family’s needs. One of her most defining interests was her love of reading, especially biographies/autobiographies. She also enjoyed word searches and crossword puzzles as a way to keep her mind active. Macey was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Marcy. Her faith was important to her and she was active in the church in her earlier years. Macey is survived by her son-in-law, Charles Bruce Teel; and her grandchildren, Joshua T. Teel, and Meredith K. Teel. She also leaves many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, in-laws, Anna Tata, Rita and August Lalli, and Mary O’Neill; her friend, Joanne Elias DeStefano who ministered to Macey with her unique love and compassion. She was predeceased by her, brother, Peter M. Tata; her sisters and brothers-in-law, Antoinette and Joseph Buono, Josephine and Neil Cannarelli, and Angeline and Anthony Zammiello; and her in-laws, Savina and Louis E. Garofalo; John and Mary Lynn Blase; Domenica Blase; Olivia and Harry Pape, and Michael O’Neill. The family is grateful to the staff of the Sitrin Health Care/Sycamore Household who treated Macey with love and respect. Visitation will be held Saturday from 10:00-11:00 at the First Assembly of God Church in Marcy. Macey's funeral service and Celebration of Life will commence on Saturday morning at 11:00 at the church immediately following visitation with Pastor Mike Melnick officiating the ceremony. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to express an act of kindness in Macey’s memory may make a donation to the American Cancer Society Albany Chapter online at https://www.cancer.org; envelopes will be available at the service. Committal Prayers will be offered by Macey’s nephew, William Minchin, at Crown Hill Memorial Park.
