Lucy A. (Pettinato) Jeamel

Mrs. Lucy A. (Pettinato) Jeamel, age 81, of Utica, passed away on Monday, July 9, 2007, in the comfort of her home, after a brief illness. Born in Utica on December 12, 1925, Lucy was the daughter of the late Anthony and Carmella (Chiellino) Pettinato. Raised and educated locally, she graduated from T. R. Proctor High School with the class of 1944. On April 25, 1953 she married John Bartholomew Jeamel who passed away on November 21, 1992. The couple shared 39 years of a blessed union. Lucy was an original employee of the General Electric Radio Receiver Plant on Bleecker St. where she worked as a tester through the many years that the plant remained operational, retiring in 1986. A generous and thoughtful woman, she was an exemplary wife and a loving mother. Her family meant everything to her and was the foundation of her unconditional love. She was a best friend to her loved ones. Among her talents, she was an excellent cook and baker. She enjoyed her monthly social gathering with the “GE Girls”. She was a communicant of St. Anthony of Padua Church. Lucy is survived by her son, Michael A. Jeamel of Utica; her brother and sister-in-law, Anthony D., Jr. and Marilyn A. Pettinato of Utica; her sisters and brother-in-law, Sarah Pettinato, and Dolores N. and Louis F. Papale, all of Utica. Her family also includes her aunt, Connie Smith of CA; her nieces and nephews, including, Barbara P. and Michael Pellegrino of Whitesboro, Sharon R., who is also her godchild and her husband Jay Garfinkel of Long Island, Antonette S. and Bill Melvin of GA, Anthony P. Pettinato of Utica, Frank and Margaret Papale of Utica, Ralph and Shawna Papale of Whitesboro, Frank and Rosalind Macri of Albany and Anthony Macri of Sauquoit; great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and in-laws, including Rocco Macri of Clinton, and Helen Rosa of Utica. She valued her many friends, including Toni Pianella. She was predeceased by her sister, Flora Macri and her infant sister, Josephine. The family extends thanks to the staff of the Faxton-St. Luke’s Dialysis Unit for their care and compassion; and Dr. Charles J. Eldredge and his staff for their professionalism. Visitation will be held Thursday (today) from 4:00 – 7:00 at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. By family request, please omit floral offerings. Lucy’s funeral service will commence on Friday morning at 9:30 from the funeral home and at 10:30 at St. Anthony of Padua Church where her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Entombment will take place at Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum.
