Mrs. Lucy (Napoli) Famolaro

Mrs. Lucy (Napoli) Famolaro, age 92, passed away on July 5, 2014, just seven days (June 28, 2014) after her beloved husband of 68 years. Born in Utica on January 21, 1922, Lucy was the daughter of the late Thomas and Benedetta (Caviola) Napoli. On September 29, 1945, she married Salvatore V. Famolaro Jr.. Throughout their marriage, Lucy and Sal built and maintained a steadfast and enduring relationship, one that was founded securely upon their love for one another and their joint commitment to family life, and one from which they created and cherished many beautiful memories. For Lucy, her family was her life, the source of her foremost concerns and her greatest joys; she selflessly devoted herself to her home, her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was gifted with a unique sense of humor and with a love for music. On countless occasions, she delighted and entertained her family with her funny remarks, her tap dancing, or tunes she played on the harmonica. She was a communicant of St. Peter’s Church. Lucy cherished in her heart the memory of her eldest daughter, Josephine “Jo” Grogan, who passed away on May 30, 2011. She will be remembered by her daughters and son-in-law, Binnie and Michael Fenton of Deerfield, Dorothy Buley of Holland Patent. She also leaves her son, Salvatore “Sam” III and Marcia Famolaro of Holley, NY; her son-in-law, Russ Grogan of Utica; her grandchildren, Tammie and Gary DeFilippo, Michael Jr. and Caitlin Fenton, Jason and Lisa Buley, and Daniel and Jaime Buley. She treasured the memory of her beloved grandson, richard Wentworth Mitchell II and son-in-law John Buley who preceded her in death. Also surviving are her great-grandchildren, Samantha, Nicholas, Mitchell, and Eden Buley; and Grace Fenton; her sister-in-law Rose Siciliano, and brother-in-law Carmen Famolaro. She was predeceased by her sisters and brothers-in-law; Susan Mariani, Caroline and Angelo Vecchio, and Angeline and Joseph Priore; brothers and sisters-in-law, Joseph and Margaret Napoli, August and Madeline Napoli, and Albert Napoli; her in-laws, James and Carmella Famolaro, Anthony and Genevieve Famolaro, Rocco Famolaro, Frances and Santo Pintacuda, Angela L. “Red” Famolaro, Josephine Famolaro, and Steve Siciliano. Visitation will be held Tuesday, July 22, 2014 from 4-7 at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South Street., corner of Hammond Avenue. Lucy’s funeral service and Celebration of Life will commence on Wednesday morning, July 23, 2014 at 10:00 from the funeral home and at 11:00 at St. Peter’s Church in North Utica where her Mass of Christian Burial will be offered by Rev. Abe Esper. Interment will take place in Calvary Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
