Mrs. Lucile V. (Collea) Ferenti

N. Utica – Mrs. Lucile V. (Collea) Ferenti, age 87, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 20, 2023. At the time of her passing, she was in the hearts of her son David and his family. Born in Utica on December 13, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Anthony H. and Constance (LaPorte) Collea. Lucile was a student at T.R. Proctor High School, graduating in the class of 1954. On May 30, 1955, Lucile married Patsy J. Ferenti. In their relationship, they took time to enjoy one another, and often traveled. The couple shared over 37 years together prior to his passing on March 25, 1993. Lucile was that friendly head cashier at Carl’s Drugs, Fay’s Drugs, and lastly Eckerd’s Drug stores. In the early 1990s, Lucile and Patsy had dreams of retiring to Las Vegas, but God had other plans. Lucile was always kind and resourceful. She was stimulated by travel, casinos, and wherever BINGO was held. That was one of her most enjoyable daily endeavors. She was a reader of suspense and mystery novels, and enjoyed watching Steve Harvey hosting Family Feud. As a mom, she shared the values of respect and the knowledge of obliging to help others. Her son remembers so many enjoyable times in his youth, but her ability to make a masterful lasagna was a favorite. The holidays were honored and family reunions were so memorable. As a grandma, she engaged in her grandchildren’s lives with laughter in her eyes. The family camp, located on Red Lake in the north country, was a relaxing environment. The camp, located lakeside, was a front row seat to the splendor of all the seasons. At one time she was a member of St. Peter’s Church. Lucile is survived by her devoted son and daughter-in-law, David and Paula (Woolson) Ferenti; as well as her grandchildren, Damon, and Alexis Ferenti. Her memory will also be cherished by her nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, especially the late Dorothea “Dottie” Casatelli-Rogers, and in-laws. Lucile was predeceased by her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Cosmo and Mary (Alito) Ferenti, and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Nance and Joyce (Lynch) Ferenti. Lucile’s family wishes to extend their gratitude to the nursing staff at The Pines of Utica for their kindness and attentiveness to Lucile. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Lucile’s Mass of Christian Burial and Celebration of Life which will commence on Tuesday, August 29, 2023, at 9:30 at St. Peter’s Church, 422 Coventry Ave. There will be an opportunity to greet the family at the conclusion of the Mass. She will be laid to rest next to her husband in Calvary Cemetery.
