Lorraine A. "Dolly" (Zaczek) Stucky

UTICA – Lorraine A. “Dolly” (Zaczek) Stucky, age 81, unexpectedly went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 1, 2026. Born in Utica on June 16, 1944, Lorraine was the daughter of the late Anthony and Mary (Jiampietro) Zaczek. She was raised and educated in the area, attending local Catholic schools and furthering her education at Mohawk Valley Community College. In 1968, Lorraine was united in marriage with Clarence J. “Butch” Stucky, a blessed union that endured for 23 years until his passing on May 3, 1991. Lorraine was employed by the City of Utica for many years, where she took great pride in her work. She enjoyed working for Ed Hanna, whom she admired greatly. Among her many roles, she helped beautify the city by planting flowers and also served as a crossing guard—a position she took very seriously. She was proud to be part of the City’s “Clean Team” and was well known for her outgoing personality and love of conversation, especially when it came to politics. Those who knew her often said she should have been the Mayor of Utica. Lorraine was proud of her Italian heritage and especially enjoyed the local feasts and festivals. She cherished time spent with her family, as well as her daily cup of coffee, and was known as a loving and devoted mother and grandmother. Lorraine had a big heart and was always willing to help others in any way she could. She was a spiritual woman and, at one time, a parishioner of St. Mary of Mount Carmel Church. She is survived by her children and their loves, Tracie and John Williams, Kelly Lynn Stucky and Michael Piccione, Sr., Ronald “Ron” and Debara Stucky, and Mark Stucky; grandchildren, Darro II and Sara Snyder, Kayla Snyder and her fiancé Ricky Brown, Gianna Snyder, Kristyn Williams; Michael Piccione II; Jenna Stucky; and Abbie Lewis who loved Lorraine like a grandmother; and great-grandchildren, Bella, Genevieve, and Aria. She cherished the memory of her brother, James Zaczek, who preceded her. She is also survived by her devoted friend, Elaine Franco Bliss. The family wishes to extend their sincere appreciation to the staff of the 2nd Floor at Utica Rehabilitation & Nursing Center, UFD Rescue One, and the staff of the Emergency Room at Wynn Hospital for the care and compassion shown to Lorraine and her family. Lorraine’s family will honor and commemorate her life privately. Inurnment will take place in Calvary Mausoleum at the convenience of the family.
