Lillian T. (Abdo) Maugeri

Lillian T. (Abdo) Maugeri, age 80, of Utica, passed away peacefully in the dignity and comfort of her home on Friday, December 2, 2011 with her loving family by her side. Lillian was born in New York Mills on March 14, 1931, the daughter of the late Thomas and Mary (Tanury) Abdo. Raised and educated locally, she was a graduate of New York Mills High School. Lillian’s sense of devotion, dignity, and hard work ethic was evident in all aspects of her life. At one time, she held a position at UNIVAC as a group leader. She was lastly employed with Par Technology as a supervisor, the position from which she retired. During her working years she very much enjoyed the camaraderie of her fellow employees. Her love of family, the blessings of motherhood, and the affection she shared with her grandchildren could be seen in the glimmer of her eye. An exceptional cook, Lillian loved Sunday dinners with her family and had fond memories of their annual family vacations. A snapshot of her life would include her sharp and witful humor, the depth of friendship, and living true to her convictions. Her innate wisdom kept her grounded to her fundamentals. Many pass this world, but Lillian made strides and accomplishments that will leave her mark on those she loved. During her spare time, she was an avid bowler and enjoyed the entertainment of the Casino. She also volunteered her time at the Stanley Theater. Lillian is survived by her sons, Thomas V. Maugeri, Sr. of Frankfort, Vincent and Barbara Maugeri of Utica, and Michael and DeeDee Maugeri of New Hartford; and their father Vincent Maugeri and his wife Denise. She was recently preceded in death by her daughter-in-law, Thomas’s wife, June Marie Maugeri. Also left to mourn her passing are her grandchildren, Jaime Lynn Maugeri, Thomas V. Jr. and Carrie Maugeri, Kelly Lynn Ferrazzano, Michael Maugeri, Jr. and Vinny Maugeri; and her great-grandson, Landon. In addition, she leaves many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, brother-in-law, Robert VanDusen, and her many lifelong friends, especially Thelma Capuana. She was predeceased by several siblings, more recently her sister, Roslyn VanDusen; and her close friend, Carol Battle. The family would like to thank Lillian’s daughter-in-law, Barbara, for the loving care and comfort that she provided her mother-in-law daily. Lillian’s family will honor her life in a private gathering. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her funeral service and Celebration of Life which will commence on Monday morning at 11:00 at St. Louis Gonzaga Church where her Divine Liturgy of the Faithful Departed will be celebrated by Chorbishop John D. Faris, Pastor. The family will receive visitors at the conclusion of the service. Interment will take place in St. Joseph’s Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
